I thought that it sucked that Maggie's father was so critical and dismissive of Maggie being in a band. He seems like he would be a difficult person to live with. I thought that it was realistic how Maggie wondered if James and Rico were using her to promote the band. I think happens a lot with people that are wealthy.
Also, I liked how Maggie snuck out of the theater to go to the Battle of the Bands and I liked reading about it.

I loved the Maggie in the series!!! I especially liked the band and the defiance of her dad.

I liked Maggie more than I remember liking her as a kid. Some of her comments were hilarious, especially the one where she says about Sunny: "What's she going to put on a job resume? Many years experience, "wild side walking"?"
I wish I could have gotten a better description of what her hair looked like after her mini makeover. I guess it was just asymmetrical? I did enjoy her poems and lyrics. Also, I kind of liked how she was the only one to write on a laptop because, in the mid 90s, only rich people probably had them. I wonder how expensive they were back then.
Zeke reminded me of all of Jeff's annoying points, haha.

I think its kind of funny that she got an asymmetrical haircut and that was crazy, but no one seemed to remember her GREEN RAT TAIL! An asymmetrical haircut has to look better than a green rat tail.

(I have no life and am reading through these very quickly. They take no time at all to read anyway)
I wasn't looking forward to this one, because honestly, Maggie wasn't my favorite when I read these the first time. I also found it tiring how she kept saying she was so bad at everything, then would do an excellent job. I know there's people like that in real life and I was like that while in school, but for some reason I didn't find it enjoyable to read.
I did like it more this time. I found out what bothered me about this book though... somehow, Lerangis' writing style doesn't work for me in from Maggie's POV. I thought he wrote Sunny very well, but I think all the shorter sentences he tends to write didn't translate well with her character. Does that make sense?
I did like her poetry. I'm not sure if it's good or not (I don't understand poetry), but I liked the inclusion of something creative to make her stand out.
I didn't like her father that much and I think he put too much pressure on her. It's realistic though. But am I the only one who thinks it's absolutely crazy for a 13 year old to be out at midnight on school nights? I had a very early bedtime back then (9 p.m.), so it's completely wild to me. I don't think I'd let a kid be out that late if I was a parent. I've never seen anyone talk about this.
I like how Maggie and Amalia's friendship is developing. Pretty cool.

The girls would be nervous about something and that always meant they couldn't sleep for days, barely paid attention in class, jumpy at everything, and then by chapter 15 it's no big deal. Everyone needed therapy. It's miserable reading about people who with unchecked anxiety. Hopefully California Diaries was better about this as a whole.

Sadly the CDs seem to be worse about this, although given what the characters were going through, it's more understandable. All of them suffer from insomnia at some point. I do think everyone in CA needed therapy aside from maybe Amalia... she seemed pretty grounded.
