Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls! I was 7 and found it at the library, and I remembered that I had seen a lot of people reading these books, so I figured "why not?" It was the first book I read that didn't have any pictures, and I LOVED it. My "cool aunt" gave me California Girls (because I am from California) and BSC at Shadow Lake for Christmas later that year and I was hooked for life.

Mary Anne Saves the Day. I picked it up to read because I liked the cover picture.

I think it was either Karen's Witch or Karen's Kitty Cat Club.

Mine was Jessi's baby-sitter. I loved it because I was 11 years old when I got into the series, so naturally I was happy to read a book with someone the same age as me. I wasn't much of a fan of Mallory's so I often read Jessi's story, because to me, thirteen did seem like an older age even if it was only two years older. So it was neat reading about someone who thought 13 was so big and sophisticated. I tried to read as much of the books as I could, but I always loved reading it from Jessi's point of view. It's funny finding out now that these books were started in 1986, the same year I was born. These girls would be 40 this year, well except Jessi and Mallory. They will be 38.

Technically, it's not a actual BSC book, but it was Karen's Worst Day that introduced me to the world of Stoneybrook.

Mine was book 2, Claudia and the Phantom Phone Calls (I really liked mystery and suspense and maybe even some danger and thought from that it looked interesting enough, more than the first one of I assumed just setting up the group), followed by books 3 and 4, then reading in pretty random order.

Karen's Witch. I don't remember which BSC book was first, but I know it wasn't Kristy's Great Idea. That would never happen now. I can't do anything out of order anymore.

Mine was The Ghost at Dawn's house. I was into ghost stories and the title intrigued me. However I was confused about who these characters were. So I got more out of my primary school library and Claudia and mean Janine was the next I read. The library only had like two BSC books. Since then I bought my bsc books from my local bookstore.

I started with Karen's Haircut, and immediately fell in love with the Little Sister books. Karen was just like me - little brother, divorced parents, skipped a grade, lots of imagination.
Someone had bought me Jessi and the Dance School Phantom and Stacey's Emergency (probably thought it was the Karen books I loved so much) and one day I was just so desperate to read something that I finally gave them a go. And it was all downhill from there lol.

Poor Mallory. My mom got it for me when I was 10 because my stepdad lost his job and she thought I would be able to relate to it. (This was the only book I actually enjoyed the chapter 2!)

Summer of 1988 and I somehow got my hands on a copy of Boy Crazy Stacey - I loooooooved it and a lifelong love of BSC books began that day lol. I think I related to it so much because my family took a vacation every year that was similar to Sea City - lake/mountain town in New Rngland instead of the Jersey Shore - but all of the other stuff, the arcade, mini golf, shops full of tchotchkes and ice cream shops at every turn - pretty much the same.
