The mystery series isn't my favorite, but I always liked this one. As an adult, though, I see a lot of problems. I think most of them have been pointed out already, though.
I wish Mrs. Gardella really had told some of the clients instead of just Mrs. Prezzioso and the slow meetings being a coincidence. Higher stakes and stuff like that. This is recycled at least once in the series (it was also in Baby-sitters Haunted House). It's lazy in my opinion.
The Prezziosos are among my favorite clients now. I feel like at this point they complain about them more out of habit than anything else. That being said, the Joey chapter is super random. Does he ever appear again?
I liked the mall outing and then reminiscing about past club problems. I'm not sure why.
I really don't understand Claudia. She was accused of cheating on a test not long ago and knows what it's like to be falsely accused. It's reality bizarre that a client backed Stacey up but her best friend didn't. Maybe she was just being pragmatic and wanted to erase any doubts in her mind. I can see that, but it's still messed up. I think this should've been developed more. On re reading the series, I like Claudia a lot less.
I don't understand Mrs. Gardella either. She wanted to spread rumors about the whole club, not just Stacey. Why would inviting another club member along put her mind at ease given that logic? Why didn't she ever think that Stacey possibly placed that ring under the rug? Why didn't she think to look in Mouse's hiding places? Ugh, like someone else said, she's an airhead.
The BSC think that the Gardellas are weird about their pets. Lol I feel like their behavior is more commonplace now. Nothing really seemed off at all to me aside from Mouse eating at the dinner table. That's a big NO in my book. I'm not much of a cat person in general (I would highly prefer they not get on the dinner table at all, but I know that's really hard to avoid), so maybe I'm not one to talk, but ew! I hope at least they're not raw chicken livers. Just doesn't seem sanitary at all. Also, the smell. Ugh.
Stacey was crazy for thinking her mom would get her a diamond ring. I like that at least she has a realistic flaw of being spoiled, but still. What was she thinking?
