^I think that probably was his plan. I do have to say at 10 years old his thinking should have been a bit more advanced but I can accept him wishing the first fire would do the trick of scaring everyone into cancelling the readathon. Didn't each subsequent fire become a little more dangerous, bit more of a threat to everyone's safety? I've already forgotten the details of them all aside from them being in a boys bathroom, 2 garbage cans, and the 4th? one that Kristy stopped was where Sean had poured foamy stuff in the trash can?

I liked that Nicky won the Readathon since it seemed like Rosie was going to win. And Sean Addison has serious issues and he needs help for it, like therapy.

I was very happy for Nicky, too. I hope the triplets cheered at least a tiny bit for him. I didn't care much for Rosie either.

I guess that makes Nicky the male version of Mallory.

I'm re-reading and am wondering why Kristy (and the others) were okay with Mary Anne spending so much time at the library? Dawn and Mal are still gone, the Club still very busy. I get a lot of parents booked the BSC to take their kid to the library, but didn't only Kristy take Rosie? IIRC. Byron took Nicky once! I also totally agree that MA should have been paid something. She was, for the time she was there, (M and W afternoons and weekends; I'm guessing mornings? IIRC, the library was only open a few hours on Sunday. I'm guessing that meant morning) doing at least close to as much as Miss Ellway. Another Poor-Mal moment. MA makes sure to let us know that it's not like Mal is her (MA's) best friend or anything, she (MA) just misses her. Editing to add: I wonder about the Stoneybrook Police sometimes. Even if they dismissed the fires as a "prankster and advised Mrs. Kishi not to give them much attention," don't you think after the second one, they'd pay closer notice? If nothing else, the Police should have realized the fires were near the children's room and on a Wednesday. Maybe time to take note of who was there? on this re-read it also struck me that not only were most of the same kids always there but other than the protestors, no adults (parents) were ever mentioned. All those young kids either came alone or with a sitter?

I think all the police are dumb in Stoneybrook!
I totally noticed that too zoar how MA was like - oh mal isn't my bf....how sad! The first chapter of this book made me want to not read the rest as MA is just a sniffling little woe is me in it. Blech - suck it up sister

^Thanks for this additional smile Wiggirl. I read your post in "Miss Priss," and that was great too. It is sad how MA, when given an audience, will "suddenly" obsess about how much she misses Dawn. People like Logan and Mal who she can still see, are cast aside as "Oh, yeah, I miss them, too."

I thinkit's funny and odd that Mary Anne was suddenly so easily bored at the beginning.

mary anne is bored without drama, she had a void to fill, got it with dawn and experienced withdrawal

I can't find my copy of vampires, I really want to read it again! I really used to love that book, especially when Claire Pike dressed up and Carson's reaction, and though Lindsey really needed help and was sick for doing what she did to the car, it was interesting to read about how crazy obsession can make you if you don't know your limits
