Let's see if I remember...is it Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus, and Species?

I took a quick glance on wikipedia and it's Life, Domain, Kingdom, Phylum, Class, Order, Family, Genus and Species.

There's a Japanese yarn company called Noro, and one of their newer yarns is called Hitsuji. Recently I realized that I knew what "hitsuji" meant -- "sheep" -- because I learned it from Mimi in Claudia and Mean Janine. So this type of yarn is just called Sheep. I guess people must walk into yarn stores in Japan and say, "Do you have any Sheep?"

I first read the books when I was REALLY young, so I'm pretty sure I learned a lot from them. The only things specifically I remember though are from BSC Across the USA - I learned about Old Faithful in Yellowstone, the Four Corners, where the Space Needle was...and I remember being fascinated by Jessi's comment that Elvis stole a lot of his style from black musicians. Way to be progressive, Ann. (Everyone remember that really political Thanksgiving book about racism? It's narrated by Claudia, I think.) Oh, and I learned who Georgia O'Keefe was too! On a lighter note, I distinctly remember being about 7 years old, wanting to impress my teenage partner in one of those Big Sister/Little Sister programs, by telling her I "knew what diabetes was" because of Stacey...only of course, I tripped over my words, and said "diababies" instead.

This isn't exactly trivia but I learned what a joggling board was from Kristy and the Mystery Train.

I was obsessed with pig Latin after reading "Mallory and The Trouble With Twins". Op-talk was also pretty cool, but took too long. Oh, and I learned some American Sign Language from "Jessi's Secret Language".

But a J that dances doesn't really work! I know, I tried to do that one. At least I can say "hi" and "you", though.

Toward the end of the book, when the mystery train arrives in Charleston, Kristy sits on a joggling board which is almost like a wooden bench that bounces.
