Or at least you used to keep one? I have been keeping a journal ever since my ninth birthday. I am now seventeen and I have completed twenty four notebooks. If you did keep a journal, could you please tell about when did you start journaling, how many journals you completed, I don't really care as long as you have something to say, lol

Yes, I kept them from childhood up until I entered high school...after I was about 15 or 16 or so, I stopped doing it. So I must have had about twenty or so...a few years ago I threw them out, just thought they took up space I've been thinking it would be kind of nice to start again, because when I'm on my laptop I'll just write to sort out the events of the day. Old habits die hard. I do always have notebooks lying around, anyway. The thing is...I have gotten so used to typing!

I always tried but then would get embarrassed and rip/burn them! I admire anyone who can keep a journal faithfully cause it is a very cool keepsake to have when you are older.

^ Boo Boo, that is cool that you do that. That sounds like a great way to remember highlights of your day and also as you said sort it out. Last year, almost every day, I managed to take (or find on Google) a picture that somehow went along with my day. I did enjoy looking that over before deciding I didn't need to keep it. When I was a kid the only diary I remember keeping was in third grade because it was required. The teacher would ask a daily question and we had to reply to it-- a little like our question of the day thread. I never had the patience to keep a daily journal. I think I tried a few times but it never lasted. I prefer to write as I need to write not on a pre-set schedule or dictated by a calendar.

I love reading the online journals of strangers. It's like reading sitcoms but in entry form. I bit people would be surprised at how much time I spend reading about other people's lives. There's this guy out there whose journal entries I've read every single one of for more than a year now. And he puts one up almost daily. There was a girl of whose online journal I followed religiously for around 8 months.

I used to keep journals during high school and partway through college. I shredded them when I moved out of my parents' house, though. I didn't want to take them with me when I moved, but didn't want to leave them behind and have my parents read them, lol.

I kept a diary/journal (not completely sure of the difference) off and on from 4th grade through high school. Mine were mostly just me talking about my day or week, depending on how often I wrote. I've said before that I'm a list maker, so there were random lists here and there also. I didn't write poetry or that sort of thing.
My first one was one of those cheapy kid diaries with the lock and key. The lock would unlock on it's own if you dropped the diary on the floor or set it down too hard somewhere. It took me forever to figure that out, so for a while I was convinced that my siblings were reading it and then forgetting to lock it back up (I don't think think they were, but whatever if did). I moved on to spiral notebooks. Not a lot, maybe 5 total? I can't believe you guys got rid of yours!

I dabbled in all sorts of different forms of writing, so naturally I kept a journal (I wouldn't necessarily call it a diary since I never really wrote anything too juicy in it, and I feel like diaries are more for private secrets and such). Although I never wrote in them for very long, maybe for just a week or so. Then I'd forget about it and maybe get another book which caused another cycle of journal writing. Specifically, I remember going on a road trip and writing about my experiences that day. It was mostly a log of events and odd things like the weather, what I ate, etc.

I used have this pocket size journal. Mostly about random make-up stuff. Cause, I didn't have much private stuff, when I was pre-teen. I lost it, from moving to two different places, over the years. I don't know, if I still have it or it got thrown it away. Then, I did online journal. But, didn't want anyone to read it. Like the FBI. I read this article about it's good to keep journal handy. I don't want to people reading my journal online or offline. Even if I keep it private, making sure no one reads it. Family, detectives, and who ever wants to read it. I know, I'm weird. Seeing so many crime shows about the victim having online journal or writing in their laptop.

That's really neat about taking a picture that went along with your day. Hmm...maybe I should try that since I'm a very visual person (and I suck at drawing...even at stick people, lol). When I first started my journal, I didn't really have much patience either. However, once I grew older, I got more used to writing. I also don't write every single day; just when something interesting happened that day. There are a lot of days that are incredibly boring

It features this woman who kept a diary from third grade to twelfth grade. She posted all of the original diary entries. It's pretty funny IMO. If you are curious and want to read it, here's the link: www.segnbora.com/diaries/index.html

Thanks, Mallory. I think I got the idea from Claudia and the Clue in the Photograph. In fact a couple years ago maybe now we as a board had talked about trying to do a "Day in the Life" picture project--where we would each on the same day take a picture that was somehow related to the BSC or Stoneybrook and then we would each share. Maybe we should try that next year.

I kept a couple of journals/diaries on a temporary basis as a younger kid, but receiving a Lisa Frank one for Christmas when I was 11 began my "real" journaling. I've kept them consistently ever since...that's more than 20 years! I don't write every day - sometimes, I even go as long as a month without writing. I couldn't even begin to tell you how many books I've filled up over the years (I tend to use actual, hardback journals rather than plain notebooks).

Ugh, Lisa Frank!!! Remember the colourful aisle of Lisa Frank products? I am a boy and I loved that stuff. (Haha, I just looked on their website and it says "The stuff GIRLS love!) Granted, I was already addicted to teacher supplies back then. This made me laugh: www.butyourelikereallypretty.com/post/33806056778/lisa-frank
