^ It's one of her best outfits ever, and not too different from the styles that had come back in the past 3-4 years. I also like when they were helping her get ready.

Did anyone else notice that Claudia was the one who wrote the note that they included in the package when they mailed Claire's audition video? No wonder Claire didn't get a callback...

The only thing that stood out for me this time was Mrs. Arnold stopping by the Pikes to see if any of them (the kids) wanted to join her and Marilyn and Carolyn on a trip to the museum. I don't think that ever happened before and was cool to read about. I also (like others) wish we had seen a picture of Mimi's green kimono and that that scene was longer. Otherwise, I felt this one really was a whole lot of filler and not much "story."

Agreed Zoar. Boring then boom finish. The story with Claire was a little more exciting

I think there are a couple of things in this book that are an intentional homage to From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler -- a main character named Claudia solves a mystery involving a sculpture at a museum, and there's a scene with characters fishing for coins in the museum fountain.

^ I wouldn't be surprised if you're right about that. Claudia even read that book earlier in the series! She liked that the main character shared her name.

I'd never thought about that before!

I actually enjoyed this mystery more during my reread. The museum sounded interesting - and also huge! The Discovery Room sounded awesome and I've been to a children's museum similar to it as a young student (it doesn't look as impressive from the outside as an adult). I had to LOL because Don Newman sounds more like a name of singer rather than an artist. However, I did like how Mr. Newman created his pieces to be handled and touched (most of the museum seemed to be like that which is cool). I guess his work also doubles as "storage space", haha (maybe IKEA will get on that!) To me it was a bit odd how he stored away toys for his kids in his art but at the same time it's a cute gesture. Loved Claudia's kimono - it was part of my 2 favourite scenes - when Claud tries it on and Stacey and Mary Anne are flanking her on either side, behind her, smiling at her. I also loved the scene where Mr. Kishi and Claud arrive at the museum in their swanky black-tie outfits - I bet they both looked stellar!

I have a big problem with the way the police searched them at the museum.
First off they shouldn't have searched the twins, Corrie and Claudia without their parents present. They were all underage.
Second, the kids shouldn't have been searched at all since they were with Claudia the whole time and weren't even in the room when it happened. The museum staff shouldn't have said something. Claudia should have said something too.

A lot of people find this one boring, but I didn't mind it. It's cool to read a book featuring Claudia's strengths.
I don't have much to say about it, though; overall it's pretty average. I love art, so I wasn't bored by Claud's descriptions. I did notice, however, that Claudia and Janine might have more in common than they realize:
"Janine has this habit of telling you more about certain subjects than you ever want to know. I’ve learned to tune her out."
I kind of thought this would be touched on later, but nah.
Then later on in the book the BSC does the same when Claudia talks about art. Also, apparently Stacey isn't interested in art at all. I'm not sure why, but this bothers me. You'd think Miss Sophisticate from New York City (!!!) would at least appreciate art. Stacey and Claudia are always described as having so much in common, but honestly, it's mostly fashion and boys (they are also both smart, but in opposite subjects).
I'm not sure I buy Mr. Snipes being so cool with Claudia at the end. Idk, just doesn't feel realistic. I wish we saw that conversation. That's a recurring problem with the mysteries- they're wrapped up way too quickly and we're told stuff instead of shown.
The Claire subplot was cute. The Pike subplots get annoying sometimes (I think starting in the 50s this becomes overused. I really like the Pikes early on in the series) because they involve putting on plays or just being very obnoxious (if Lerangis is the author), but they're better if they only involve one kid. I don't think there's been a plot specifically featuring Claire, so it's cool that she gets one here. Correct me if I'm wrong!
I like Claudia's outfit on the cover, and it's actually in the book! I also love her kimono she wears to the party, and I love how Mimi is mentioned. It's probably one of my favorite Claudia moments (and outfits) so far, which might be weird. I was considering not reading this one, but I'm glad I did.

I get this vibe from Janine. Mary Anne mentions having to sneak past her door on the way to Claudia's, because Janine will catch you in a conversation and drone on. She likes to give the backstory.

Oops! I should've clarified. Claudia does this several times in this book in regards to talking about art and never really realizes it's similar to Janine's habit. It's actually kind of a cool detail imo, but it's probably realistic that Claudia doesn't realize what she's doing.
