^ not really lol. I don’t look anything like her, I just liked her appearance better. Megan did have a nice appearance...but not for dark-haired, brown-eyed Mary Anne. If they wanted Megan in there, she would have made a far better Sunny...Sunny had close to Megan's coloring.

I thought Lahey and Cook both did well playing Mary Anne but each better as different parts of her life, respectively pre- and post-book 60. I don't know a lot of current young actresses but I would like, if budget was no concern, David Duchovny as Watson and Stanley Tucci as Ed. I would flip those two. David Duchovny is too fit and smarmy to be Watson, and Stanley has the bald head. I actually pictured Watson as like a James Gandolfini if he had lived longer. And Paul Walker as Dawn's dad if he had lived longer. (Or as her crush, Travis, when he was younger. Was she subconsciously attracted to someone like her dad?) It's easier to cast the parents, lol. There are infinite choices out there. James Gandolfini and Paul Walker might have been good choices. But not David Duchovny...too trendy, I guess. And I would like the movie kept in the 1990s with that 1990s feel...not 'updated' to make it seem as if the girls are STILL in middle school in 2019. It actually is easier to cast adults...kids are trickier because you have to not only get the appearance right, but their ages right.

I thought Watson in the early books, like Kristy, did have a somewhat flippant sort of humor but it did fade away later.
Edit: I got the sense that Ed was older and less good-looking than he thought he was and then in the scrapbook pages picture he looked even older than I had earlier imagined.

I picture someone kinda dopey looking like Matthew Broderick (sorry, Matthew, haha) as Richard. Jenna Fischer as Elizabeth (cute but relatable, and not super glamorous). Coincidentally, I picture Charlie growing up to look like John Krasinski.
Now I want to keep Googling middle aged actors...

And Edie has dark hair and brown eyes like Kristy, not light eyes. I liked the actor who played Edie in the big-screen film...she was perfect as Kristy's mum. Yuck, Matthew Broderick would be a lousy choice for Richard. If this were still the early 1990s, Alec Baldwin in his thirties or forties would have been a great choice for Richard...same light brown hair, kind of tidy appearance, green eyes and even similar glasses. Whenever I watch Beetlejuice and see Alec Baldwin...who plays Adam in the movie...I'm reminded of Richard.

Alec Baldwin (the younger years, not now) is too handsome for me. Opinions are great, but you don't have to be rude about them.

For some reason I thought Natasha Richardson would be great as Elizabeth (rip).
Laura spencer would have been a good older Mallory.

When I read about Richard I always imagine Jonathan Hyde as Sam Parrish in Jumanji as him, I wish he had played him in the 1995 film (as long as he would also still be in Jumanji).

Natasha would have been too young, too blond and too Hollywood-coiffed-looking. I think Rachel Weisz from The Lovely Bones had potential to make a much better Elizabeth Brewer. i.pinimg.com/originals/18/19/3f/18193f7d9f88434d13767504026541e2.png

Your mental Richard is far better-looking than mine! I always picture Fred Rutherford (Richard Deacon) from Leave It To Beaver, not Alec Baldwin.

Remember that Richard and Sharon were only forty-two during the series. I said what I said. It’s what he looks like *in my head.* I’m not saying my head canon is fact. In addition, Richard Deacon was born in 1921, so it’s not like he was in his 60s when he did the series. He was around Richard’s age.

Well now I’m curious to know, what do you all think if the cast of the new show?
