In another thread ( The "Baby-Sitters Club" Guide to Food), there was a discussion of creating a BSC cookbook. In this thread, we can post recipes from the books. Or, any food mentioned in the book, you can look up the recipe online and post it here. Here's a Daddy Stew recipe... The Pike Family's Daddy Stew Ingredients: 2 Ibs stew meat 4 russet potatoes 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce 1 (6 oz) can tomato paste 1 tablespoon fresh coarse ground black pepper 1 tablespoon kosher salt 2 stalks celery, chopped 2 beef bouillon cubes 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1 teaspoon seasoning salt saltine crackers Directions: 1. Cube potatoes, chop onions, and add to boiling water 2. Mix in tomato sauce, tomato paste, bullion, and stew meat 3. Add celery, garlic, salt, seasoning salt, and pepper to taste 4. Reduce hear and simmer 1 hour or until meat is tender 5. Serve with saltines Since I didn't find the Daddy Stew recipe in the books and I didn't know how to make Daddy Stew, I looked up the recipe and found one at www.food.com/recipe/daddys-stew-220652. Have Fun!

I've said this a few times on these boards, but the Stuffed Cherry Tomatoes that Dawn mentions in #77 (Dawn and Whitney, Friends Forever) sounded so good, that I ended up making them. I've tried a few different recipes that have different fillings (goat cheese, etc), and this one has been my favorite. They were delicious. My friends liked them too and wanted the recipe.

Oh my god, I love that chapter in Dawn and Whitney! Too bad Karina had to ruin everything! Same with Barbara, the seafood sounded delicious
Here are some more ideas:
The Perkins green cookies Karen's cinnamon pudding with raisins (if it turned out okay) Lisa Engle's Thanksgiving foods in Karen's Surprise Pecan pie Karen's Plane Trip garden fresh salad in a pattern including the radishes Claudia's salad with a sun shaped design (for Janine) Potato Latkes Slice and Bake cookies...from scratch The food Dawn made for Mary Anne in Farewell, Dawn that included the garlic bread Batch of fudge, no antenna required Peanut butter and banana sandwich pizzas on English muffin Alma's chocolate cherry cake A cake with Claudia's marble design that's edible Abby and Anna's ballet slippers, artists pallette and piano flatcakes
I'll think of more later, aren't these so yummy?

Wow these look delicious and easy to make. I can't cook well to save my life, so I would definitely love this cookbook!
Some others to include from books can be:
Christmas sugar cookies Heart shaped pancakes for valentines day (how to get the shape, what fruits to add and so on) Ice cream sundaes Egg salad sandwich

Don't forget all of the variations on PB&J!
(also aren't hot dogs a key component of Daddy Stew? I don't remember what book it's in, but it seems to me like it'd be something simple, like cream of whatever soup + hot dogs + noodles.) eta: Daddy Stew is in #17 and is a casserole with chopped-up hot dog pieces. Yum?

A lot of Pike recipes seem to be "use leftovers in new and disgusting ways," haha.
There's also Dawn's healthy recipes.

And the Brewers specialty, or should I say, put all our junk on the table every Saturday and eat whatever you want! LOL
I can't recall too many more of Dawn's recipes cause I didn't care for most of them when younger, now they sound really good. I always liked the music picnic food she had packed, and the Cabbages and Kings restaurant, wish we heard more about that, or that Dawn had worked there in summer LOL
Oh yeah a variation of the PBJ sandwich would be one with a face on it, much like one of the ones at the back of a Little Sister super special, and like Karen's infamous toast masks

Oh my gosh, I LOVE the idea!!! Thank you for doing this! Don't forget to include the salads and chocolate cherry cake with how you imagine Claudia's design Oh and blueberry pie and fish, like what Stacey had on pine island, she said they were the most delicious things she'd eaten

Some others to include--the Kishis' tacos, Mary Anne and Dawn's New Year's Eve snacks. And of course there are tons more on our food thread haha. Scholastic really should have come out with a BSC cookbook
