I married a younger guy - I've got about 14 months on him So, I don't think it's weird at all.

Im curious as to the reason that in the beginning Stacey writes her dad to ask for permission. I know it was 1993, but Im pretty sure phones were available, and provided a much more prompt answer to that question.

^ Very true. Especially since -- in other books -- Stacey and Ed have discussions over the phone all the time. It's not as if they can't afford a long distance phone bill

I think Stacey just wrote so Peter could have a postcard from her POV? I think only Claudia, Mallory, and Buddy wrote postcards while at Sea City this time. Mary Anne's (I think) was told through Logan after the fact. I re-read through this entire thread and completely agree that this book would have been better had it all taken place in Sea City. I normally do like the Krushers but not this time. I also noticed that in Hannie's postcard to Kristy telling her she was on vacation, Hannie spelled Linny both the right way (Linny) and wrong way (Linnie) all within the same card--reminded me something Claudia might do. I still like the adventure at the school but don't see why Mrs. Pike didn't drive instead of Mrs. Barrett. It was cool how both Dee and John took charge. Oh, I could have done entirely without the mini camp, boring. Buddy hearing from his dad (my first choice) an extra day at the gym, or Claudia hearing back from one of her summer school friends would have been much preferable, same with the pointless Karen chapter. Still, I do enjoy hearing about Sea City and would have loved to have gone there as a kid, even now!

My husband is five years older than me, but my ex-boyfriend was four years younger than me, and when I was in high school, my girlfriend was two years younger.

I've never dated anyone younger, I find the guys around my age to be bad enough I actually liked Karen's chapter, am I alone in this?

My husband is my own age. My aunt & uncle are about three years apart, with my aunt older.

I really couldn't get into this book at all, I don't think there was one thing about it I liked and usually there is for every BSC book. Even if I don't like the main plot, I usually do enjoy it anyway but I just didn't for this one. I don't know why, and it's kind of sad since I was looking forward to this one. I wanted to see the rest of the sitters in Sea City. It took me forever to read it. I've been re-reading all of the BSC books lately, and it doesn't take me long to finish the book. Now that it's winter, and way too cold out, I spend a lot of my time reading anyway. I can finish these books in one sitting. This one took days, and I didn't even take anything in from it. Even as I type this (and I just finished reading it earlier today) I can't remember much about it. I think I can honestly say I've found my least favourite BSC book.

I think that one of my favourite scenes in this book are the ones dealing with Hurricane Bill. I've been in tornadoes before and really enjoy thunderstorms. Obviously, the destruction is sad and horrible, but there's something about the excitement of it all.

I enjoy reading this book. First time reading it. I felt like, I was at Sea City. Read more of the posts later.

I just finished reading and lol my thoughts are still the same as above. I just love Sea City and will have to travel back there with the other two books very soon. One new thing that jumped out at me as Dawn tells someone (I think in a postcard) that Franklin DeWitt asked her to babysit for his kids. I would have loved reading about Dawn going over to his former house and sitting for just his kids. We have often talked about other than with Andrew and Karen a little bit not getting to read about BSC charges visiting their other family and this would have been a perfect time. I still get angry at Mr. Barrett though maybe he did write Buddy back, I sure pray and hope he did. I said this earlier, there were some funny parts I had forgotten about such as Margo's Beach Zoo, Kristy's desperate recruiting, I laughed at Stacey's dad's request that she be sure and bring him taffy from the beach, showed a more fatherly side of Ed and something my Grandma for sure would have done, as well. Logan was sweet to rent the horse and buggy. One thing I am not understanding is if his friend Terry lives in Mercer (Isn't that one of the Phantom's towns)? why does he work at the Rosebud in Stoneybrook? We are told Terry's parents run a large animal attraction of some type out there. I know his parents could drive him to the Rosebud which probably is less than half an hour away or maybe he is older... I just tend to think of those we meet in Stoneybrook living in Stoneybrook And don't ever forget: "Honeysuckle, Honeysuckle, makes me want to laugh and chuckle." This rhyme is courtesy of Vanessa and Nicky. Edited to ask: Why is their an adoring crowd of (Myriah)? Andrew, Kristy and David Michael looking at Karen on pages 118 and 119? Gabbie scored the Krushers only run thanks to her hit and Charlie's "help" (He hid the ball. I'm not saying it was right of him to do that but it was sure Charlie-like and kind

I love this book! It's my second favorite Super Special (behind Here Come the Bridesmaids). I'm a great lover of the beach, so I enjoy the Sea City books. This one is a fun read. I like the kids chapters and don't mind the Stoneybrook parts as they're pretty funny. I usually skip Dawn's long ghost story though. One thing I thought was kind of weird though is the fact that Elizabeth (Kristy's mom) calls the Little House and talks to Karen's mom about Kristy and co. having to evacuate Sea City. Why would she call Lisa and Seth? Was there really a reason for Karen to know what was happening since she wasn't at the Big House? Just seemed a little weird.

I don't understand why they wouldn't call to let Karen and Andrew know what was going on. It's a pretty serious situation. Obviously they'd see on the news that that part of NJ was getting hit and they'd be concerned.

I guess you have a point Greer. Just seemed a little weird that it was Elizabeth that called. I guess that whole family situation was pretty friendly.
