I was glad Jessi didnt get the lead role. For once she was taken down a notch.

I kind of understood how Jessi felt though. I had a slightly similar experience myself. When I started doing the school musicals, I started out doing small stuff, but my parts gradually got bigger and last year I got a lead role! I was Adelaide in Guys and Dolls and I was so happy and loved doing it. People did give a lot of attention and made positive comments throughout it (likewise what Jessi got with her leads in ballets), and the praise does make you feel good. But this year, I've been put back down to chorus again, which does make you feel kinda bad initially after all the hype from a previous show and I guess you do doubt yourself a little and try to justify why you didn't get a big role. People did give pitying looks and made stupid comments about me not getting a big role and for a while I felt like dropping out like Jessi, but then I remembered that no matter what it's still fun being in a musical, so go with it! I think Jessi should have still been in it, and she was being pretty snotty about things, but I understand her hurt feelings completely, especially since Kristy was being a tad bratty when she whined that she wanted to be Nana and the Crocodile when she was told she got the lead and Dawn being annoyingly over-feminist should have been grateful that she got a part in the play in the first place when other people didn't and she had a leading role on top of it! Also the other members complained so much at that meeting, it's no wonder Jessi went mental at them.

In retrospect, I gotta say, it's slightly ironic that liberal, progressive Dawn found the role of Wendy entirely offensive, yet was all geared up to play...Tiger Lily. Who, last time I checked, wasn't entirely PC herself.

*snicker* Jessi thought she should be billed as associate producer? *snicker* The whole way she acted like an expert during auditions bugged me more than her being upset about not getting the part of Pan.

One of the things that used to bother me was the choice of musical. I mean Peter Pan's ok, but personally I think the BSC could have done better musicals. I mean imagine if they did Grease or West Side Story or Guys and Dolls. What would the cast have been like if they had chosen a different musical?

I doubt Kristy would have gotten the leading role if they'd done Grease, that's for sure. I can't really see her as Sandy. Stacey and Sam might have made a good Sandy and Danny.

As clean as the BSC was, what other play could they have done? Maybe if they were in high school, but not with 11-13 year olds. Besides, I think it's fitting that they did a play about never growing up.

Yeah that's true, the never growing up point is very symbolic. Haha Dawn could have been Sandy though, another excuse for one of her extreme feminist kicks like she did with Wendy (Sandy changing herself for Danny).

^ even I found that somewhat distasteful, so lord knows what Ann and her Dawn thought of it!

Make Danny blond and "Californian" and she'd be swooning all over him.

Maybe Travis could have gotten the part, since he's good at everything (according to him....).

I'd love to see Dawn complain about that, considering she did it twice that I recall in the regular series!

I usually don't mind Jessi but I couldn't stand her in this one. Who was she thinking that she should automatically get the lead? I also thought it was ironic that in the beginning she was all afraid to speak up in front of the older girls just to share her good news about being a writer for the paper but then was a major brat to Kristy later. I was glad she didn't get the lead just because she thought that she deserved it so much.

Ugh. Jessi brought this book down a little with her arrogant attitude. Still, I liked the book. I should reread it soon.
And, yay, this is my 200th post.

Ugh. Jessi brought this book down a little with her arrogant attitude. It was her arrogant attitude that was so obnoxiously entertaining!! You don't know whether you feel like slapping the girl or laughing in her face!
