^ Yeah, that could have been the obligatory fight for this book.

I am in the middle of this one again. I read this one many times as a kid. I swear though, every time I read about Claudia and the snails I laugh out loud.
Mallory really bothered me in this book with her spending all her money on makeup. What is the point in wasting all that money on makeup when she wouldn't be able to wear it when she got back home?

Most 11 year olds would look funny in all that makeup, especially with fake blond hair. What was she thinking?!?!?!

This reminds me of the way they paint the faces on little girls in pagents and stuff now. And even in horse shows. They look like clowns. I can just picture how foolish Mallory looked.

I wish there would've been a pic of Mal in her makeup. I can't picture freckles and blonde hair...

Ooh, yeah, Mal must have looked terrible with her dyed blonde hair and all of that makeup caked on. Yikes. Plus, her eyebrows wouldn't have matched her hair and that would have made it look even worse.

Haha, oh man. That all sounds utterly horrific. And hilarious.

Yup. It might top the list of the dumbest stuff Mal's ever done. But the saleswoman who "helped" her sucked too.
Gosh, it's too bad this SS had postcards instead of pics...a pic of Mallory was in order!

I know! I missed the pictures in this book as well. I bet a picture of Mallory would have been interesting to say the least.

Just reread and got irritated with most of the girls in at least one chapter. I really didn't like Dawn in this one and thought she was awful to Carol. Claudia's insecurity got annoying but I liked her bonding with Janine - always love Janine. I liked Terry pretty well - he's my type but maybe a bit too "intellectual". Mal was annoying and foolish. Stacey's obsession with surfing got annoying, too, as did Jessi's "star struck" feelings. I can't say much about MA the Guidebook because my mom (and me too to some extent is like this. I think, in all, Jessi was my favorite in this book - surprising. She showed a lot of sense in several situations, especially with Mal. I liked the We Love Kids Club better than usual, almost liked Maggie. Loved the baby-sitting and MA's relationship with Stephie (love Stephie anyway). Also enjoyed reading about Universal. Makes me want to go back - I haven't been since visiting the FL one 10 years ago. I liked Carol really well in this book, too, and hated how mean Dawn was to her. In all, lots of good parts but not one of my favorites.

The babysitting in this book is my least favorite part. I hate Eric, Ryan AND Stephie. Stephie seems so whiney and annoying.

Plus, her eyebrows wouldn't have matched her hair and that would have made it look even worse. Hehe, I'm a natural redhead and my eyebrows are blond. Jessi was beyond generous in this book. She paid Mal's way to both Magic Mountain AND Universal Studios (not to mention all of the other stuff)?! That's beaucoup bucks right there. I thought she was pretty good-natured and sensible about the whole money situation and Mal's "new look". I have a good twelve years on Jessi and I can safely say that I wouldn't have been nearly as mature as Jessi was.

I just want to slap Mal all the way through this book. Normally I'm a big Mallory fan and I just like to make a bit of fun of her because she's a dork (as am I), but she's so annoying in this SS. Seriously, it's time for the slappy slappy.

Seriously, it's time for the slappy slappy. I felt the same way. I think this was one of the only books that I actually disliked Mallory through the entire book. She was so foolish and pretty out of character for her usually sensible self.
