The UK Cover!!Hmm...good point, aln. I haven't read many books featuring Mr. McGill, Bart or even Logan (never read the Logan specials), but now that I think about it, you're right - their behaviour is pretty in-character. I guess that they're all so ridiculous, they don't seem believable as characters. I just re-read Mary Anne and the Search for Tigger, and Logan was even worse in than in Island Adventure. Being a jerk to Mary Anne because he's been sucking in baseball? Whatever, Logan! He's so self-involved. It's funny that the biggest jerks in Island Adventure are all males. I wonder why that is?...

^ Thanks for the UK cover pic - needed a good laugh ;D MA is definitely pushing Jessi and the others are trying to catch her... Sometimes I really like Logan (in the books he narrates) and sometimes I hate him. Thinking of it, I like the later version (with some exceptions) better. As for the biggest jerks being males in this SS, was it ghost written? If not, maybe this is another example of Ann's issues coming out in a book. I thought Jamie was really cute in this one, especially the pictures. In all, though, I think it's one of my least favorite Super Specials - I've never been a fan of sailing (the thought of it makes me sea sick or of books that talk about being stranded on an island.

This is actually one of my favorite super specials. I liked how it wasn't the typical go on vacation super special. I liked seeing how they survived on the island. I thought Mary Anne and Logan's fight was laughable. They both defiantly had their part in it.
I loved the UK cover pic. That defiantly made my day!

That UK cover would actually be kind of cute, if it wasn't for Jessi careening towards the water. What the hell?

^ It's that evil Mary Anne, pushing her in! Haha, no, I think she's supposed to be holding her back (but the other way is funnier). It doesn't make sense why Jessi is falling in the water in the first place, since she's so graceful and all. If anything, it should be Mallory falling in. But unlike the American illustrators (Hodges Soileau, I am looking at you!), the UK illustrator was a bit kinder and decided to not pick on Mal. Well...on second thought, looking at the cover again, maybe not so much. Does anyone want to buy a masterful, original oil painting?

Err... why is there like a snowy mountain in the backround of the UK cover? Jessi looks hilarious though, I'm laughing at work!! Do the publishers seriously see these covers and think, "Wow, that looks great! Print it!"
Don't know if I already mentioned this in a previous post, but one of my favorite parts of this book is the beginning when Dawn talks about the exercise she did and the healthy food she ate in preparation for the race. I always liked reading about the girls at home doing random stuff like that for some reason.

^ I noticed the mountain in the UK cover, too. In CT.... ;D I always thought the exercise thing that Dawn described was interesting, too, hitzpink. Had forgotten about it but always laugh when I read it. Doesn't she say something like "I could feel myself able to lift my legs higher" after watching and practicing with the exercise videos for several days? For some reason, that always reminds me of Karen and her friends practicing for Field Day in Karen's Field Day (sorry for this comparison "Karen haters" and "Dawn fans" ;D)

About the whole Jessi sitting for Becca and Squirt all weekend. Apparently they really do live in an alternate universe because here in Canada it's illegal to leave a child in the care of another child for ANY length of time until the are 12 years old. If you do and your caught you may have to pay fines, but more than likely you'll have child neglect charges placed on you and you'll probably never see your kid again. Just goes to show how smart everyone in BSC land really is. Sorry if that was harsh but that bothered me since I was like 6 because even then, growing up here I new better than that

I think most everyone does realize that this is totally unrealistic but gets over it by not thinking about the girls being "11" I know when I read the books, I get around all of the things like that about their age (they do sooooo many things that aren't possible, legal, etc) by pretending that they are much older - probably 17 and 15. As for the oil paintings, I missed Claud but will have to look. That sounds funny ;D

Ha, that's in the postcard book. I like it, although wtf is up with Claud's pants. And is that Mary Anne in the skirt? The other brunette's expression is more Mary Anne-like, but she's wearing a turtleneck. *confused*
A painting of Janine and Claudia getting in each other's faces! Claudia's outfit is so wild - a plain blue shirt and matching scrunchie!

I don't think I'd pay $700 for a picture of the BSC.

Someone's stalking the BSC!First of all, that's a really freaking scary picture. Secondly, how many times did they think they were being stalked by a big, scary, crazyman and it turned out to be Cokie or some other random kid? I mean, come on.
