^ Thanks. That's what I was thinking. I guess I don't remember anything about how they solved this one.

I don't think they did. I remember they found the ruins of an old house/ farmstead. But I think that might be as far as they got with the "mystery"

Now I think I'm confusing myself more than ever by mixing this mystery up with the ghost thing in SS 3, too. ;D I guess I'd better at least reread this part soon so I can remember. ;D

^I actually liked it when there was a rare occaision of a BSC mystery not being solved, like in "The Ghost at Dawn's House."

^The mystery was solved in the Ghost at Dawn's House. Did you mean to say a different Dawn book?

No, I definitely meant "Ghost at Dawn's House." The mystery wasn't really solved because not ALL the noises and mysterious objects were explained, so there was still the possibility of the ghost.

It always bothered me that the mystery was never solved. I want their to be some sort of explanation for it. The only good thing is it got my imagination working as to how this mystery could have been solved.

I wish the mystery had been solved, too. It's creepy to think about why an entire family and their help just disappeared one day.
I find Dawn to be really out of character in this book, though. She is the one who loves ghost stories, loves the idea of living in a haunted house, yet totally freaks out over the idea of the ghosts of the Bayard family? She even makes a comment about not wanting to sleep near the haunted ruins, yet she sleeps in a possibly haunted house every single night!
I love Andrew's song in this, it's fun to see him be silly.

Maybe Dawn thought she's safer at home, and not so much sleeping overnight on a strange island?
Andrew's song is classic!

Maybe, but a ghost is a ghost! I guess there's just that stereotype to fill on every vacation, the person who is unreasonably frightened of something. Dawn is terrified of big cities when she goes to New York, so she's terrified of monsters and ghosts here.

I like the mystery not being solved, too. I like the BSC not being able to solve every single mystery they come across, and I like that being unsolved helps it remain, well, mysterious.

I just got finished reading this on ebook. I loved the whole plot, especially when the bsc take a boat to the island and camp by themselves. Seemed like fun, although I would have probably been scared!

Kristy's note to Watson was super sweet. I wish we had gotten to see him read it. I agree with most all the other comments in this thread, especially enjoying Andrew. 2 questions: Sparklymouse mentioned that Emily Michelle wore a swim suit with a fish blowing bubbles? What page did the book show that? Sounded cute. Other question is more of mistake on the Ghostie's part. When Stacey admits to Sam that she once had a crush on him she says that she felt that way over a year ago when she was in 7th grade and had first moved to Stoneyrbook. I admit to not remembering exactly when the McGills first came (maybe August)? but do know she started 7th grade at SMS with the rest of the BSC. Isn't her comment admitting she has completed 8th grade? Unless, of course, she failed. At the book's beginning Kristy says the usual "I'm 13 and in the 8th grade at SMS."

I just finished reading this book and I thought it was okay. Some parts were pretty boring like Claudia's, Mary Anne's, and Jessi's chapters (yeah, all that 11-year old romance). But I did enjoy Sam's chapters. I like reading about Charlie and Sam. I wish they were featured more in the books.
