I must be totally blind, because I don't see a thread for this one, and I looked about three times! Oh well...it's still early, so if I missed it, I won't feel bad. I'm reading this one again for the first time in awhile, and I'm coming up with all sorts of questions. 1. Is it really all that common to wear uniforms at sumer camp? I never had to, nor has anyone else I know who's been to camp, yet it seems to be the norm here. Not only do they have to wear uniforms at Camp Mohawk, but Dawn says in a postcard that it's been awhile since she'd had to wear the same thing every day and share a cabin with other girls, which makes me think she wore uniforms at her CA camp. 2. Counselors that are 15? At my camp, they had to be 18 and done with high school. Most were between 19 and 22. CITs were 16 to 18. 3. After all these years, I still don't know what fur storage is. Here's something funny; when Dawn says that Heather is an Iroquois and can't swim, I used to think that meant she was an actual Iroquois, as in a member of the tribe, and they weren't allowed to swim for some reason. I didn't realize that was some sort of skill ranking. All in all, this will probably always be one of my favorite Super Specials. It makes me want to go to camp again!

The only camp I ever went to was church camp. We didn't have to wear uniforms. We could wear whatever we wanted within reason.

I really liked this one, but I was dissapointed by the lack of communication between the girls. They hardly ever saw each other. I thought they were going to camp to have a good time together! But I suppose babysitting always comes first... I still love the letter MA sent to Logan. And Logan actually wearing the flower! Haha! Awesome.

I actually kind of liked that they didn't have much contact with each other. It was nice to see them interact with people outside of their BSC world.

Kristy getting a makeover is pretty funny. Poor Stacey just didn't have very good luck on this vacation.

I actually liked that too. It was nice to see them make some new friends. You know, I noticed that they didn't spend much time in "predictable" groupings in SS #1 either. Kristy and Mary Anne never really spent any time together, and neither did Stacey and Claudia, or Mary Anne and Dawn, for that matter. The fact that Stacey and MA were sitting has a lot to do with it, but even so. I liked seeing some Kristy/Claudia and Stacey/Mary Anne interaction. There was this cute Asian guy who was a couple of years ahead of me in elementary school...I always called him "Will Yamakawa" in my head.

At the camps I went to, we had camp T-shirts, but since we only had one or two each, we didn't wear them all the time, just for certain events. If we wore the same shirt every day for a week it would have been disgusting.
Oh, and I went to Girl Guide camp, too, and of course there's a Girl Guide camp uniform, but the same thing applied there, too -- it wasn't as if we had enough uniform shirts and shorts for every day of the week, so we were only required to wear them at certain times.

I loved Mary Anne's letter to Logan. SO funny.
And the camp uniforms thing was weird to me, too. I had a camp t-shirt (still have the one I brought back for my grandmother - she asked for one, not my idea! - somewhere, I think), but...that was about it.
Another thing that bugs me - that camper with the speech impediment. They kept saying she has a lisp, but she, for example, called Stacey "Shtashey," not "Thtathey." That's not a lisp that's Peter Brady trying to have a personality :/

^ You know, it wasn't until this past reading that I realized how off Nonie's lisp was.

I think Ann really tried to write it the way she heard it but she just didn't succeed. I always wondered why Nonie was making "sh" sounds on all her words. Reading about all the stuff wrong with Stacey kinda grossed me out. Though each time she mentioned that she had found a "comfy pile of leaves" aka poison ivy to settle in, it made me laugh. And also when Kristy said she wanted to roll in it to get out of going to the dance. From Claudia: From Mary Anne: I guess Stacey should be...flattered? I totally thought this as well!

I totally thought that too until I came to this board about Heather! Glad I was not the only one!

Mary Anne by far had the best storyline in this book… her letter to Logan… too funny!! I thought the other girl’s were a bit dull. I can’t believe Mary Anne nearly let the girls pierce her ears! ouch!! This part reminded so much of that parent trap movie…
Mal and Jessi… aww… Jessi seems to have the hardest time adjusting to life in Stoneybrook...

This part reminded so much of that parent trap movie… Mal and Jessi… aww… Jessi seems to have the hardest time adjusting to life in Stoneybrook... Is this the letter where MA is really mushy on purpose and Logan's friends find it and tease him? I don't remember this book at all and need to reread soon. Do they pierce ears with a needle and ice cube in a parent trap movie? I've watched that one about a million times (though not recently) and don't remember that. My mom had her ears done that way, though, and said it hurt terribly. Agree about Jessi. It seems that Jessi has problems in both this one and Winter Vacation. Then in some of the other super specials, she has it really together and gives good advice to Mal. Maybe because those are later books?
