^In the newer, Lindsay Lohan version of "Parent Trap," we don't actually SEE them piercing ears with a needle and an ice crube, but it's implied.

^ Thanks. I had forgotten about that version:) Guess I haven't watched it enough. I'll have to look for the implied piercing the next time I do watch it. And I'll have to reread this book soon, even though I think it is one of my least favorite Super Specials.

Oh I remember that part in the movie! I cringed the first time I saw that part. I think anybody who lets another in experienced person pierce their ears is very brave.

^ I had a hard enough time getting mine done with the gun at a jewelry store Is this the book where Stacey gets poison ivy and ends up in the infirmary?

^ooh, i had hard time getting my ears peirced too! I thought it would hurt, but it actually wasn't that bad.
Now I feel like watching the parent trap movie again. As a kid, I was obsessed with that movie. my friends and I would act out the parts, and I always ended up being Annie because I was the best one at “faking” an accent… it must be from reading all those Baby-Sitters Books. ;D
^This is the book where Stacey gets poison ivy. I think she also gets pink eye from one of the campers in her cabin... poor stacey just had the worst time at camp. It would suck having to spend nearly the whole vacation in the infirmary...

^LOL. Poor Stacey will probably never go back to good ole Camp Poison Ivy. She gets sick and stuck with that strange lispy camper Nonie.

Actually, you do see the needle pierce Annie's ear on the DVD version. I know they cut out that shot for the cable version, though. That part has always squicked me out. I hate needles.

There are some things I like about this one – Claud and Will, especially. Also enjoy reading about Mal and Jessi and the dance auditions and teaching the kids and don’t actually mind Charlotte’s homesickness. Can really relate to her and feel for her as I would never have even gone to camp for that reason. One thing I would have liked to have a description of in this one, though, is of the girls riding horses. I think this could have but funny but realize that people who don’t care about horses wouldn’t have been interested. I think this is one of my least favorite SS books, though. Too many mean bullies for me – it seems like there is someone who taunts or at least belittles the others in every cabin. While this is probably realistic, I didn’t enjoy reading about it. Maybe it’s just the mood I’m in today, though. The book also has too much of a “typical camp book” (which I don’t really care much for) feeling but I don’t dislike it or anything. Just don’t love it like I do lots of the other Super specials.

^I liked Claudia and Will too. Was this the book where Kristy goes to the dance stag, and Claudia gets all mad at Kristy for cutting in while she is dancing with her date?

^ Yes. Kristy has no tact, cutting in on people who are having a squishy moment. Does anyone ACTUALLY cut in at middle school age dances? it seems to happen at every BSC dance.

Will does dance with Kristy, though I don't think she really cut in, and I think Claud gets a bit upset but I don't think she gets really mad - just a bit miffed for a minute. But it is Stacey's Mistake when Claudia cuts in on Kristy that causes the real problems between them.

I never would have dreamed of cutting in on a couple in the 8th grade, and I don't think any of my peers would have either. Then again we have to remember that we're not dealing with actual 8th graders, we're dealing with mini-adults in 8th grade bodies who've been 13 for approximately 15 years.

But it is Stacey's Mistake when Claudia cuts in on Kristy that causes the real problems between them. My mistake. My brain is not functioning well today ;D I just looked and Kristy did specifically say she "cut in" and Claud did sound a little mad but I think she quickly got over it. Maybe Kristy was paying her back for cutting in with Coby in NYC or maybe Claud was paying Kristy back in NYC for cutting in on her and Will ;D Not sure which one happened first. Never thought about the realism of cutting in at middle school dances - probably because I don't think the BSC as middle schoolers (and I also never went to a middle school dance so have no idea what is realistic)

At the dances I went to in middle school everybody mostly stood around. I don't remember anybody actually dancing. Maybe things are different in BSC-land.

^ That's why I never went to mine. What's the point in going to a dance and standing? ;D Of course, my cousin just went to an 8th grade dance and told me how much fun she had showing off all her "moves" on the dance floor with her friends ;D (she is very....impressed... with herself and her abilities and can have fun no matter what, though.)
