Yeah when I was in jr high no one actually danced at dances. We stood around and talked to our friends!

when I was in middle school we had one mixer a year per grade...the only thing I can remember about the ONE mixer I went to is that we did the duck dance. Lol

I forgot to mention two other things I really liked in this book were how nice Logan was to MA after he got the note - didn't get all weirded out by it - and the Christmas in summer thing with Nonnie. I though that was really cute, too, how she wrote Stacey at the end and said "Merry Christmas".

This one was okay, I think. The whole Mal/Jessi storyline was a bit lame (with their bracelets) and sad (with the racism)... I felt so bad for Stacey in this one though! Oh, and Go MA!

^ I did like Mal and Jessi sticking together, though. Much better than in BSC in the USA when Jessi assumes Mal is a racist. I felt bad for Stacey, too, but serves her right for making fun of Mal in Shadow Lake with the bug gear. Maybe she should have remembered what itching felt like ;D

^ The Christmas thing (and Nonnie saying that) was one of my favorite parts ;D I think this one brought "cool" Stacey down to earth a bit (not that I wanted her brought down but sometimes it gets annoying how they make a big deal and she does, too, about being so "sophisticated" and "mature")

aww yeah Nonnie was very cute in this book. I think she was one of the only parts I liked about the book.

Yeah when I was in jr high no one actually danced at dances. We stood around and talked to our friends! We danced at my junior high school dances. But nobody cut in on anyone else. People would have thought you were both rude for stealing their dance partner from them and possibly insane because no one did that.

^ So true. Come to think of it, I've always thought cutting in was a little rude. Especially since typically the person says "May I cut in?" and then starts dancing without waiting for a reply. That kind of thing never happened at my grade 7 & 8 dances. I think it really only happens in BSC Land!

I don't think we even had any dances in junior high, but cutting in on a dance seems like a typical thing seen in BSC Land--people acting much older than 13 years old.

For the first several years after I read the BSC, I couldn't figure out what cutting in was. Then I expected it to happen when I went to my first middle school dance.
Do people actually do that? I've never seen it at a dance. Of course, all the people who I go to school with "dance" by grinding, so it doesn't really matter who they are dancing with.

All in all though this is one of my least favourite Super Specials. maybe because we don't have summer camps here I can't relate. Every school camp I went on, sucked. i just hate being out of my comfort zone. I agree that MA's storyline was the funniest, and kudio's to Logan for putting up with it!

Am rereading this one and just started thinking that Dawn is the CIT for the 11 year olds. She does mention it, too, that she could have been Mal and Jessi's CIT if she had been put in the other cabin. That seemed kind of strange and could have been quite ackward. I never thought about this before but it seems odd. I think Claudia's chapters are actually some of my favorites in this one, though I haven't gotten very far in my rereading. Usually, Claud isn't my favorite but I do like her relationships in this SS and in CA Girls. I wish she would have gotten to see the boys again and wonder if they kept in touch (though I can't see her as a big letter writer ;D)
