I was always wondering if Mary Anne subconsciously harbors a grudge against Kristy after their big fight in Mary Anne Saves the Day? Even after they made up, Mary Anne seems to gravitate towards Dawn and grew apart from Kristy. What do you guys think?

I think grudge may be putting it too strongly but it's likely that Mary Anne did at least somewhat dislike how much Kristy tried to be the one calling the shots/taking the lead both in relationships and the club but then again she mostly accepted it was who she was and that her being the leader in the club was generally for the best.

That fight was probably the first time that their friendship crossed that line. It can be hard to let your guard down again after that. (They must have all grown higher tolerance for each other's bs as the series went on since fights came and went so quickly.)
As for Dawn, I think Mary Anne was obsessed with making the sister label work. I wonder if Kristy was ever resentful/wondered why Richard lived next door her mother for so long and never wanted to date her. Like, why couldn't she and Mary Anne have been the ones who were best friends and sisters?

I wonder will they renew their friendship later on in life with Dawn being gone?

I think Kristy, especially as she grew older (and the prospect became more possible) really didn't like the idea of getting a stepdad and she would probably also be both mature enough and stubborn enough to realize, unlike Dawn, that she especially wouldn't like Richard for a stepfather.

By the way, I think it's interesting that Mary Anne got along fairly well with and did some hanging out with Abby even though there was pretty obviously some rivalry between Kristy and Abby.
Mary Anne in general probably disliked that Kristy was really competitive and into taking sides although then in FF she wanted Kristy to take her side against Logan and was disappointed that she didn't.

I think that Mary Anne was such a good listener because she wanted others, like Kristy, to be that way towards her, lol, but she never got it, I don't think, at least to the extent that she would have liked, lol.

I don't think there was any malice in Mary Anne gravitating toward Dawn, even though Kristy saw Dawn as a rival. Their parents began dating and that brings a new whole thing that Mary Anne could only share with Dawn. I think they owed it to themselves and their parents to get along, and they did. Maybe Mary Anne held some resentment toward Kristy after the fight, but I think her friendship with Dawn would have progressed the same either way. Even if the fight never happened, they still would have met each other when their parents started dating.

No, I don't think Mary Anne held a forever grudge against Kristy from book four onward...Mary Anne is not that sort of person.
Otherwise, she never would have initiated that emergency BSC meeting in book 4.
No hidden drama festering there...sorry, drama-seekers. 😁😁😁

I never got the feeling that Mary Anne resented Kristy. I do think she and Dawn seemed closer for awhile, but once they became stepsisters, they clashed a bit.
Kristy and Mary Anne didn't seem to hang out much in the books (from what I remember), but their friendship really reminds me of my own friendship with someone I've known since I was 6. We went to the same elementary school so we were very close then, and later on, we went to different schools so we saw each other far less. But each time we hung out, it was like no time passed at all. At this point, I consider her family. I think that's how Kristy and Mary Anne will turn out. Also, iirc, the two barely fought throughout the series (correct me if I'm wrong). Same with my friend. We only really had one major fight.
I do think that Kristy was very jealous of Dawn, though.

It makes sense for Kristy to be jealous. Kristy had a lot of people in her life but she wasn't close to any of them besides MA. I tend to side with Mary Anne but Kristy was lonely too. She already saw Claudia outgrow her and move on with a new group, so seeing her best friend do the same would hurt worse. That's even before Dawn and Mary Anne start living together.

Oh no I definitely get it. I've experienced similar. I actually felt bad for her in Mary Anne and the Great Romance. I sort of wish it was explored more, though. It would have been interesting if Kristy was kind of relieved when Dawn moved to California permanently. I think by then everyone was a flanderized, so all Kristy cared about was the club and the Krushers (I haven't read Farewell Dawn or Kristy and the Dirty Diapers in over a decade, though. Her expression on Farewell Dawn might be a hint that she was happy about her move lol).
