I was hoping that they would set it in the 80s/90s, but I have heard that it will be contemporary. That makes me nervous. Lol I am excited to see, though.

Nothing had been revealed yet. All they said was it is going to be modernized to fit today's teens' drama lives. According to Netflix Canada it will be released in 2020. Ann M. Martin will be an series executive I'm not sure I like that idea at all. They can't be thirteen for thirty years. And I hope the series won't be some lame, cheap soap opera with excessive drama just to drive the plot. Most "modern" teens do not lead lives of non-stop drama. Keep the theme in the 1990s and make the series a heartwarming, feminist coming-of-age epic that the BSC is meant to be.

I’m excited! If Ann is involved, it won’t be like Riverdale or something. If it’s contemporary, that’s fine with me.

Alicia Silverstone and Mark Feurstein have been cast as Elizabeth and Watson. LINK I don't know who he is, but the promo pic that they used makes him look a bit like McDreamy from Grey's Anatomy.

It's crazy to me that Alicia Silverstone is an adult. She doesn't seem old enough to play Elizabeth, but I'm excited to see it.

It’s going to be so interesting to see the Babysitters Club in this day and age! I’m not going to lie when I say that one of my favorite things about the Babysitters Club was the 90s essence it had and still has. Either way, I’m still very excited to see the new series.
Another thing I wanted to add, was I don’t picture Elizabeth and Watson as Alicia Silverstone and Mark Feurestein. It’s probably that I don’t picture Elizabeth with blonde hair, and Watson looking that young:)

I don’t picture Alicia Silverstone as Kristy’s mom, either. I’m a little concerned that it is going to be Riverdalesque now. I enjoy the Sabrina show, but it doesn’t work as well for me in Riverdale without the supernatural elements.

Fun fact. Clueless and The Baby-Sitters Club movies were in theaters at the same time.

I'm not going to lie when I say that one of my favorite things about the Babysitters Club was the 1990s essence it had and still has. Either way, I'm still very excited to see the new series. Me too! I hope they keep it 1990s and don't try to "update" it. Another thing I wanted to add, was I don't picture Elizabeth and Watson as Alicia Silverstone and Mark Feurestein. It's probably that I don't picture Elizabeth with blond hair, and Watson looking that young. Agreed 1000000%! Elizabeth has dark hair like Kristy and is middle-aged in the books. I loved the Elizabeth from the 1995 big-screen film...that's how I picture both Elizabeth and Watson. And I do hope they don't make Richard Spier look eighty or look...or act like that awful Ed Murdstone from Charles Dickens' David Copperfield. And while Dawn's mum Sharon has blondish hair and is absent-minded, I hope they don't depict her as a ditz or use some twenty-something actress with overly pale blond hair to portray her. Let's hope this BSC showing makes a true effort to capture the true feminist coming-of-age epic the BSC story really is. The BSC legend lives on forever!

Me also...I also hope they don't make the BSC film too soap-opera-ish either. And I hope the film doesn't have stereotypes or focus too much on boyfriends. I also hope the film doesn't make Stoneybrook appear to be this backwoods little poky place in the sticks of nowhere. I loved that 1995 big-screen film; that film was the most accurate portrayal of the BSC, including the parents and the essense of the BSC epic and legacy.
