Summers in the Philippines are hot, humid, and rainy. I think that would be miserable for vacationers who aren't used to living there.
Re: the middle school vacation to Europe - that seems just absurd to me. I went on a class trip to Spain and France when I was 17 and my sister was 15, and it took every bargaining tool we had to convince our parents to let us go. If we hadn't both gone, I don't think they would have agreed (they thought we could at least look out for each other). I can't imagine someone 11 or 13 convincing their parents to let them go. Especially Mallory. It's been a while since I read this so I don't remember who the chaperones were/if the Pike parents were there, but aren't Mallory's parents supposed to be particularly strict on which freedoms she gets? She can't wear a sweater with sequins but she can travel internationally?

Agreed. And they should have had the entire senior BSC go, not just some of them. And I would have definitely had them visit Germany and Italy. Paris is far too overrated and overused in too many books. How about when they visited Hawaii? Granted, it's a US state but it's still clear across the country. Perhaps the California Diaries. They were already moved to a high school building in Dawn Diary 1. Also, maybe the Friends Forever. They were babysitting less and the fight between Claudia and Stacey seems like it could fit a high school setting. Not only going to Hawaii but doesn't Dawn get to come along even though she isn't a student at SMS anymore? I know they needed plot devices to keep the BSC together but my god. My high school did trips to France and Spain but freshmen weren't allowed to go, it was only grades 10-12. That's why I find middle schoolers going to Europe to be absurd.

^ She did go. She got lucky because there weren't enough SMS students signed up for the trip so they began to add non SMS students and Dawn was able to get picked by virtue of being the first non SMS student on the list.

I have known some eleven-year-olds who've traveled overseas...after all, there were adult chaperones there. It's not as if they were traveling without supervision. I think Maureen McGill was one of the chaperones, so maybe that's why the Pike parents let Mallory go to Europe...the Pikes trust Maureen. I just wish all of the BSC traveled to Europe and had visited Germany and Italy, which are beautiful countries. The food there is terrific, I know Claudia and Mary Anne would have adored the pasta and the chocolate in Germany and Italy.

The mystery series would also work well in a high school setting.,

Lots of the Super Editions would have worked great in a high school setting also.

I wonder if the new Netflix show would consider putting the girls in high school when they start getting older?

I wonder if the new Netflix show would consider putting the girls in high school when they start getting older? That would be neat. The BSC would then go fully through puberty, acne, meeting new classmates in 9th grade and joining new high school extracarricular activities...all that good stuff.

If they stick with the current cast (and I hope they do), then it would make sense to let the characters grow up with the actors over a couple of years. But I don't see the show going on for very long because it wouldn't feel like the BSC to me if the girls get too mature.

I feel like we may get a third season at most, and then that would be it.

Trying to keep the characters the same age too long ruins a series, especially if they change actors. But I don't see the show going on for very long because it wouldn't feel like the BSC to me if the girls get too mature. I don't know...it would be tricky, that I agree with, but it would be interesting to age them into high school. But yes, I don't see the show going on too many seasons either. I hope they release this series on DVD very soon...long live the BSC Legacy of Stoneybrook! 🍕🍕🍻🍻

I just reread the mystery series and a majority would but so well with them in high school.
