^I'm trying to picture it--was it a yellow shirt and black skirt? I thought it looked fine on her.

^ Yes, that's the one! She doesn't look horrible in it per say, but it's really ill fitting and looks like a middle-aged woman's outfit. There could be worse outfits, I know, but coming from a girl who loves her zipper pants and pink unicorn sweater, this was a very Mumsey outfit.

Virgo, Melody does look like a younger MA in her picture.
I don't know if Penny Lane still reads these boards but I have to say that I completely agreed with her comment ^This was the only book (I think) that I liked the Kormans. The Delaneys were so much more interesting. They came across as "real" people, the Kormans, were too dull to really care much about. Outside of this book, did Karen and Amanda keep in touch? I did think it was sweet of Karen as Sparklymouse said to throw the party and I would have loved the photos myself if in Melody's situation. I was glad Lisa was so nice to drive Karen to Amanda's so often. Where in other books (yes I know this was to see a friend not necessarily her dad) both Lisa and Watson could be quite strict about schedules.

She came for a sleepover one weekend in Karen's Bully, and Melody got upset when Amanda was upset that her old house was changed around eg. the fountain being taken out cause Sari was scared, the tennis court being removed so Melody's dad could have a vegetable garden and she made Melody cry, but the two sorted it out.
I didn't like Amanda much in Karen's Kittycat club and Kristy and the Snobs, but other than that, I thought she was cool in the other Karen books, she and Karen got along really well but I know the BSC doesn't really favour the delaneys

I read this last night; I liked it even though I wish the Delaneys hadn't moved away. I thought the Kormans were rather boring in comparison. I loved Karen's photo album gift and the goodbye party she planned. I also thought it was nice of Hannie to tell Amanda good-bye and good luck, even though they never got along that well.

The Kormans were so boring in comparison. The toilet monster attempt didn't really do it for me.

I quickly looked again, and Hannie even told Amanda she was sorry she didn't come to her party. I was impressed that she even went over there to say goodbye, let alone apologize for not going to the party. I wish we'd learned why the Delaneys were moving away. Job transfer? Amanda mentioned they'd be closer to her grandparents, so maybe they wanted to live closer to family. Or maybe they just wanted a bigger mansion.

I loved this book when I read it at the library..about the go away party, the time Amanda and Karen played together before she knew Amanda was moving..and Hannie was so petty here with how she gets mad at Karen hanging out with Amanda.

I loved this book. Karen's Goodbye is one of my all time favorite Little Sister books.
Amanda's good bye party and the scene where Karen and Amanda were taking pictures and playing dress up are my two favorite scenes in the book.

I loved this book when I was growing up. The scenes with Karen and Amanda taking Polaroids and Amanda's goodbye party are my favorite scenes.
I wished that the Delaney's never moved. They are far more entertaining than the Korman's.

I love that they took all the pictures of Amanda’s bedroom and the other rooms of the house. I wish that I had pictures of my childhood bedroom/house. It was a little weird that they took a bunch of staged pictures of Amanda doing things that she liked. (Like pretending to read under a tree, lol.)
The party was a sweet idea, but the guest list was questionable. It was Karen’s family, her two best friends (Nancy didn’t even know Amanda, and Hannie was a no-show), Maria Kilbourne, and 3 of Amanda’s school friends. She didn’t even invite Max over for cake.
I liked Karen’s trippy cat dream about the human sized cats that moved into Amanda’s house.
Hannie totally grew up to be the nosy neighbor who knew all the gossip about everyone. How did she know that Amanda was moving and the Kormans were coming?
I’d like to see what the flower shaped swimming pool looked like. It doesn’t sound practical in my head.
