I haven't been able to find this one. I've read 5 or 6 of the CD so far and I really like them. I want to read this one soo bad!

I was another crier on the first read through. Even reading it now, I still get teary at points, but that first time I sobbed through it. My sister told me she had to put it down and come back to it later. It really is intense.

Add me to the list of people who cried their eyes out when they read this. My mother picked it up to have a look, read about four pages, and stopped when she felt tears start.

My copy is completely tear-stained, that's how much I cried during this book. The scene where Sunny is saying good-bye to her mom...I can't handle it. It makes me feel extra-sad because my mother's mom died when my mom was only six. She too died from cancer, and the family had to say an emotional good-bye, like the Winslows do in this book. It makes me feel so sad that my mom had to go through that. This is probably the best book written by Ann that I've read. I haven't read anything outside of the BSC series, but I think it's safe to say that this is one of her better works, at least in the BSC-realm.

I didn't cry when I read it (the first and only book I cried while reading was the book thief, but that's another discussion), but you're a cold hearted fool if that book doesn't make you want to go and hug your mom.
That book made me wonder what would have happened if there was a sunny 4. I always thought that the Winslows would move away, maybe Sunny possibiliy getting emancipated?

It's popular with child actors- you do a lot of paperwork and go in front of a judge, basically saying that I do not want my parents to be parents- i.e. you are a legal adult (except for the age restrictions things). Oftentimes it is used to get kids independce.
The way things were going between the Winslows, I always thought Sunny might try and get away from her dad.

After Mrs. Winslow's death, it seemed to me in the CDs that followed that Sunny and her dad became really close. After she lost one parent, I really can't imagine her wanting to divorce the other.

And then she went back to be with him. She wasn't trying to get away from her dad, I think--I think she just wanted a change of scenery to help her prcoess her mother's death.

I am not sure about that. Mr. Winslow seems to be pretty miserable and he always came off to me as seeing Sunny as a nusience. I don't remember much after Sunny 3 plot wise, but I don't think that the Winslows could function as a family again. In my head I always sent Sunny and her dad to Oregan to figure things out.

That's where the Winslows are from...see Dawn's Portrait.

Yeah, but I still don't see why they'd go back to Oregon when they've lived in CA since Sunny was six.

^Why would Mrs Schafer go back to Connecticut when she'd lived in California for at least 13 years?
