I like Dawn and Ducky. Not so much familiar with the others.I sympathize for Jill because she seemed really nice and they kinda ignore her because shes sort of babyish.

I was watching this movie called Teeth, and the entire point of the movie has NOTHING to do with my post, but at the beginning of the movie, the main character (whose name was Dawn, actually) is part of this abstinence group, talking to tweens about waiting until marriage. Then later one she was wearing t-shirts with unicorns on them, and had dolls all over her room. And she was like sixteen or seventeen, but it really reminded me of Jill, and I think that's probably how she would have ended up if she had been allowed to age.

It was actually really good. For being a horror film, it really only had a few horrific moments, but they were pretty disturbing. The movie wasn't really funny, but it had a humor about it, if that makes sense at all. Like it knew that the topic was vaguely ridiculous and didn't take itself too seriously. It was also incredibly well acted, something surprising out of a horror film, lol.

Maggie's my favorite, and Sunny is my second. I can't stand Ducky, though.

I think Amalia's my favorite character in California Diaries. I'm not sure whose books I like best.

Dawn is still my favourite character. She was even in the BSC books. I really like Duckys use of the second person, when I was the same age as him my diary was also like that and it some how made me feel normal...

Dawn is still my favorite character. I like how she's noticed that as they grow older friendships are changing and nothing ever stays the same. Sure at times in the books she comes across as whiny but It's also her friends' way of describing her too. Dawn seems to be the most level headed yet youthful of the group even though she's had alot to handle on her plate in this series.
I also really like Amalia. She's fun to read and I really enjoy her personality as well! But being a Dawn fan from the start (my first book ever read was "The Ghost at Dawn's House") I just can't let go.

I've only ready 4, maybe 5, of the CA Diaries. I like Sunny pretty well. I don't know that I liked her a lot in the CA Diaries, but I liked hearing about her in the BSC books. I might have to go with Dawn, and that's probably only because I already "knew" her so well.

I really like Maggie and Amalia in the series. I can relate to Maggie alot and just really like Amalia b/c of the drawings in her books etc.
I didn't like either Dawn or Sunny in the CA diaries. I felt like the way they both treated each other was garbage. I never really liked Dawn anyway, but the way she talked about her old friends in Stoneybrook really ticked me off!

Sunny and Ducky, hands down. I thought Lerangis did an amazing job on Ducky I (and Ducky II?), and ditto with Sunny's books. I liked Maggie at the beginning, but her character really suffered when they gave her like three issues (grades/perfectionism, anorexia and her mother) in a very short space of time. They should've focused on one of those, or two at most.
Unfortunately I didn't take to Amalia, partly because her writing style reminds me too much of Abby's (NBook, really?) and for some reason I just couldn't get through her books.

I think she is very relatable. My favorite books of hers are #1 and #2. I also like Maggie #3 because it's about LUV and not Maggie's problems as much.

I liked all of the characters in CA diaries for different reasons. I actually liked reading a lot about Maggie's issues, because sometimes a lot of issues go hand and hand with each other, like perfectionism and anorexia.

IA that anorexia and perfectionism go hand in hand, but I felt the anorexia subplot was shoved aside to make room for that whole meltdown she has over her mother.
I dunno, I think I've also seen too many anorexia plots in YA to really respond to that trope anymore. It was handled realistically, but I think it should've been phased out a little more slowly, because it felt like she (mostly) got over it in one book.
