Plus, I can keep them for my kids, who will be forced to read them. Haha! ;D

^LOL
I got rid of a bunch of my BSC books when I was younger, and now I'm having to find them all over again. This time, I'm hanging on to them, for my kids and well, for me, too.

I know that I was less interested than I ought to have been in "good" books (you know, Mrs. Kishi's choices!) because of the BSC, so I think I'll allow my dd to read my BSC books but limit them.

Yeah, I also skipped out on some "literature" in place of BSC. But then again, even now, I favor children's/YA books over pretty much anything else. Even the adult fiction I read isn't exactly brain food. I try to get a few "good" books in every now and again, though.

I don't read much except newspapers, magazines, and kids/YA chapter books. I probably shouldn't admit that. I just have a short attention span and don't want to be reading the same book for a month or more.

Every now and then, I pick up something cerebral, but mostly I read "brain candy" books. I also love reading Erma Bombeck. She' s not a YA writer, but her stuff is light hearted. She was one funny lady.

Bscfan, you might also enjoy Judith Martin's style. She can be quite funny, though not uproarious.

I love re-reading all of my books. I am also saving mine for my future kids. I also love to read Harry Potter. Those are probably some of the best books in the world, because they got so many children to experience the joy of reading. My bookshelf also has most of the classics, which I haven't read too many of just yet. I tend to stick with YA, but I do like the classics, when I do read them.

I like Erma Bombeck too. I don't think the BSC made me not read "better" things. I just always loved reading, so it was just an addition to the huge piles of books I was always reading. I don't really read much other YA... don't really have the time. I do like Alice McKinley, though. I don't know if limiting your kids' BSC intake (presuming they will like it as much as we do!) even makes sense... limiting BSC will not force someone to like the classics. If your kid enjoys reading at all, I think they stand a good chance of growing up into a well-read adult, even if they skipped over some of the childhood classics.

She's Miss Manners. Her columns can be a riot. Sardonic and pithy.

Just before the last Harry Potter book came out I wanted to buy it right away but put off reading it because I was sad the series was ending, and wanted to keep looking forward to reading the last book, because once I read it would be all over. But in the end I bought it and read it right away because I didnt want the book spoiled by anyone else.
As for BSC books I read them as I find them, because as it is I still have a LOT of books to go before its all over. And the ones I do own I read over and over again.

I've managed not to find out the ending to HP, but I've never been particularly into it either. I've read the first six (still haven't gotten around to #7), seen the movies, but never been in any rush to do so.

Yea, I kind of think I will get a "sad" feeling too about ending the series, (if I ever make it. LOL!) For me, I don't think I can read "Graduation Day" because, for me, the girls will always be in 8th grade.

I haven't ever read Graduation Day. When I do, I don't expect to be sad for the simple reason that the series got a proper ending to wrap up everything. I read Karen's Cowboy and was sad that the LS series got such a lame non-ending. I feel that way about TV shows too. I'm not bitter about shows that are (in my opinion) cancelled too soon as long as they are given a series finale, but if things are cut short with no resolution then I'm sad and irritated.
