Wait, I remember a Gordon being friends with Dudley and a Lavender Brown being a ditzy date of Ron's ... but was there a Gordon Brown too?

Ahh how did I read HP instead of BSC! That makes so much more sense.
Sparklymouse, I have never seen anyone peel a banana with their feet in a beauty pageant. I imagine it would go over about as well as the ending to "Little Miss Sunshine"

I don't know what the BSC could possibly do in my city. It's a medium-sized city, but there's nothing very interesting here. Usually, when people visit, I take them to a restaurant and a movie. We have a nice convention center, so maybe they'd get lucky and someone good would actually be playing there. Otherwise...I don't know what they would do. Maybe drive around the outskirts of the city to look at cotton fields and oil derricks.
Or do what everyone else does and go to L.A.

I'm sure Mary Anne would find the cotton fields and oil derricks interesting. I'm sure she would have a list of facts about them, too.

I'm sure Dawn would tell us all about oil and sustainable energy sources as well.

And they'd both be driving everyone crazy with it.

I live in Minneapolis, MN. If the BSC visited my city, of course the first thing they would do would be to go to the Mall of America. And it wouldn't be exciting for just Claud and Stacey, there is at least one store there catered to each babysitter.

^They did in BSC in the USA. It would be more fun for the girls to be in MN at the time of the MN State Fair.

IMO (with a representative sample of two) it's the best state fair of all. There's so much to see, all the agrictultural exhibits, etc., and I think everyone up there tries to go when they can. A Prairie Home Companion does a broadcast from the fairgrounds every year. We used to time our visits to MN such that we'd be there at such a time as to be able to go.
FWIW, the largest carousel in the world used to be there, but it's elsewhere in St. Paul now.

Do they have bands there? I can't picture the girls being interested in agricutural exhibits.
My hometown has this huge campground fair at the end of every July. There's 600 cabins and everybody stays in them from Friday to the next Friday. There's a rodeo the first weekend and country music at night during the week. If any of you are ever in Mississippi that time of year,it's definitely worth checking out.

Do you go to Minnesota often, wenonah? I've been to like, 5 states. I've seen so little of the US and probably won't see much more for a long time.

OMG I am watching a segment on the MN State Fair on Bizarre Foods right now. I'm sure Claudia would get a kick out of the garbage Andrew Zimmern is eating.
