I always thought she didn't want to go the Judy Blume route with the BSC books. Rather that she wanted to keep them more wholesome since so many of the readers were so young. I was only 8 when I started reading them.

Also, I think part of the appeal of the BSC is that they are so clean-cut. Probably I'm in the minority for this, but as a kid, I liked the BSC more than many other books because there were different topics in the BSC - not only boys, but also babysitting, friendship, etc. I never liked reading about boys and stuff like that when I was young, so that's why I liked the BSC so much - even though they did have their fair share of boyfriends and stuff like that, of course, there were different things as well.

Yeah, the boy stuff didn't interest me too much when I read the BSC as a tween/teen (except for the Super Special, always fixing for some Super Special romance). I was more into the baby-sitting stuff. And when I was a tween, sex below the neck didn't exist for me. I thought about kissing and it kind of stopped after that.
And to be honest, I never considered the BSC girls' sexuality until I read this thread. Odd, because I imagined many times how the grown-up girls would be.
I liked how even though there was sexual stuff in Judy Blume books, it was age appropriate. Barring 'Forever' and 'Tiger Eyes', sex seemed to be a curious exploration, not something a tween/teen did just to 'seem' adult. When I read current YA fiction (published after 2003), some of it seems very racy--I don't mean too racy for me, but for the tweens/teens I imagine reading it. I wonder at how some of these books made it into the children's section of the library. I think innocence can be a good thing. A person spends most of their life as an adult, so why not enjoy the few short years one has as a child by being a child?

Dawn would think about/plan it, but would panic and run a mile if she got too close. Kristy, given her life experiences, would have probably made sure she was in a good place in life with a stable relationship, in case she got pregnant. I doubt Mary Anne would be first somehow. I think she is not emotionally stable enough. I don't know enough about Stacey, but I think she has some self control. I think her health would be too important to her. My money is on Claudia. She doesn't seem educated about things, her parents don't seem that open, and then there is probably a rebellious streak in her given how she does not measure up to Janine in most ways.

I wanted to say Stacey, but she seems wise about a lot of things at the same time.
I have to go with Mallory out of fluke, and Dawn cause of the people she's around and being less uptight about that kind of stuff

I think Mal and Claudia would be the easiest to convince that blue balls are dangerous to a guy's health.

i LIKE HOW THE BSC IS G RATED I agree, but this thread is speculating about what might happen in the time beyond the series- if, in fact, time were ever to progress beyond the series!

These all my opinions.
Abby- She's going to have sex sometime early in high school, just to see what the big deal is. And she's going to lose it to Alan Gray and make corny jokes about him too while he does it. :]
I don't know, I just see Abby as the type of girl who is a virgin for awhile, but after hearing about sex all the time, she just has to go find out what the big deal is.
Stacey- I think she's going to have a lot of boyfriends through out high school, and she's going to be known to be a tease. She'll have fun but she won't go all the way. Than she'll get a long term boyfriend than lose it to him.
Claudia- I see her as the type of "f**k and run" kind of girl. She doesn't mean to get herself in situations but can't help herself. She's a major sucker for flattery.
Mary Anne- She'll have sex pretty young, but won't tell anyone about it. She'll won't make a huge commotion about it. People will still think she's a virgin, and will keep up with everyone's exceptions.
Kristy-She's the poster child of the school's abstinence program.
Dawn- Definitely will be the first. She'll go to California and meet a cute older boy and with the influence of Sunny will sleep with him. She'll end up regretting it and won't have sex until she graduated high school.
