::)i hated how they thought themselves more superior than their clients, i remeber in 1 book one of the girls was compaining they would miss their meeting cos the client was late and how she wouldnt have minded so much if the client was out on a job interview instead of just out for lunch or whatever. how rude is that!!! also did no one ever have jobs during meeting times, it seems stupid that they babysat so much yet they all of them were present for meetings, ok thats my rant or what i can think of now, im still a fan though and allways encourage people to read the books

Nothing really annoys me that much about them as a collective group. I know a lot of people hate how cliquey they are, but I don't care about that. I get more annoyed at individual things, like Claudia's stupid "art" and what a snot Stacey is.

well individual dislikes are welcome too, like how they fully treat kristy like shes a full on authority figure, and how black clothes equal sophistication, and how the word sophisitcation is over used lol,

Yeah, how they all use the word "sophisticated"... now, maybe this is a cultural thing, but I really can't imagine 11-13 yr old girls using that word to describe their "cool" friends.
How giggling over cute boys and clothes/makeup is seen as mature, but dressing in jeans and playing sports is immature.
How they all bowed down to Kristy's authority and apologised profusely for being a minute late to meetings.
I'm sure I can think of more!

How giggling over cute boys and clothes/makeup is seen as mature, but dressing in jeans and playing sports is immature. This is my biggest pet peeve about the series. I think it's horrible that Kristy is considered immature because she isn't interested in fashion. What a horrible message to send to the readers - you can only be cool if you're fashionable and wear tons of make-up. It really drives me crazy. I know it shouldn't, but it does.

^ It didn't drive me crazy but I agree that I didn't like it how Kristy was "immature" because she didn't wear "cool" clothes or care about boys or makeup. Same thing about all of the comments about MA dressing babyish. Actually, I think that some of the early MA clothes sounded cuter than most of the "cool" creations Claudia came up with. ;D

I also find it odd, coming from feminist Ann.

Kristy really annoyed me with her rules -- oh no, someone is TWO MINUTES LATE for a meeting.
The fashion thing bugged me, too -- I thought some of MA's outfits were cute, like where she would dress on the preppy side -- some cute tights, ballet slippers, pretty sweater -- and Claudia & Stacey would literally yawn in chapter 2 and talk about how tame her style is -- heck, I'd wear the same outfit!
Also...I wish I could eat doritos all day long and not gain a pound. At least there are those nifty 100 calorie packs on the market. I'd be miserable if I was Stacey and had to watch my best friend gorge herself with hershey's kisses and gummy bears while I was eating wheat thins (well, actually they are pretty good, but junk food is delicious). Man.

The Kristy=immature issue is especially puzzling since she is the one that takes charge. Sure, she can be bossy, and she had a tendency to hatch wacky ideas that involved way too much work. But she also took on a leadership role and made sure that things stayed on track. Without her, tasks might not have gotten done, and meetings might have turned into chatfests. It's clear that the other girls look up to her in some important ways. So how does that add up to "immature?" If anything, chowing down on junk while talking about clothes should qualify as immature instead. As for pet peeves about the group as a whole... the way that they are always better problem-solvers (in regards to their charges) than the kids' own parents, and the fact that they never want to take their problems to authority figures even when it would clearly be the appropriate way to handle a situation.

I agree with bibberly about the group pet peeves. I hate it when the girls swoop in and fix some problem that the parents were unable to fix on their own. My other group pet peeve are all the carnivals/fairs/etc that they are always putting on. Come on girls, get a life!

I agree as well, as I tend to see Kristy and Mary Anne as the most responsible.

^ Agree. I also actually found Jessi and Mal as the most mature sometimes in how supportive and responsible they were.
