What do you guys think of the Rodowsky boys?
I thought Jackie was really annoying. I think the whole Walking Disaster thing would get really old really fast.
Archie seemed cute... Shea seemed nice... but really who can tell? They were pretty much just Jackie's brothers. I kind of felt bad for Shea. I get the impression he is really quiet and mature, but he's in the shadow of his annoying 7 year old brother, Jackie.

I liked Shea in Claudia's Freind Friend. I haven't read that in like a year, but it help me develop a liking for Shea.

I know I've read Claudia's Freind Friend, but I don't remember much of it!

Gah, I hate reading about the Rodowskys! The "walking disaster" thing is so exaggerated and annoying.

The walking disaster business was so irritating, which was a shame as Jackie seemed like a sweet, good natured little kid.

Yeah it def was overdone with Jackie's "accidents", but the one that I find hilarious everytime is when he tries doing chin-ups on the shower rod and it comes crashing down.

That one was great with Jackie and the chin ups. Sometimes, he is funny but it gets old hearing about how he is the "Walking disaster". It seems that a lot of the charges are stereotyped like that - Jenny the Brat, Karen the Drama Queen, the Pike wildbunch... Kind of like the BSC members - bossy Kristy, artisitic Claudia, sophisticated Stacey... once again, the books sometimes do more "telling" than actually showing. I do think that we are truly shown why Jackie is known as the walking disaster. It does seem exaggerated, though. Like Jenny's "brat" status.

Now I know for sure this has been brought up before - Sharon's absent-mindedness, to go along with what aln said. That has got to be one of the most exaggerated things in the series.

oh God, I haaaaate how Sharon is soooo "absent-minded". The things she does are just ridiculous. Putting a shoe in the microwave? Leaving your hair dryer in the fridge? I'm making these up, but hey for all I know they are in the books. Its ridiculous.

How old is Shea supposed to be again? I haven't read Claudia's Friend but he's part of Claudia and Mary Anne's team in the baking contest in Claudia and the Recipe for Danger, and he seems to act pretty mature in that book. It's hard to believe he's one of their charges.

Shea is nine (at least according to Kristy & Walking Disaster).

I just read Claudia's Friend this weekend and now I adore Shea. He was so sweet in that book. It sucks that he is pushed aside because his annoying little brother always has to be breaking crap.

Was Jackie seven? Despite his clumsiness I always thought he was rather mature. He seemed older than David Michael even though they were the same age. Anyone think Kristy favored Jackie over her own brother? Even the movie was about Kristy disappointing/not being there for Jackie while David Michael just wandered around in the background. I have to laugh when I think about the TV series because Jackie was quite the man by the end of it. He was seriously a teenager. Hee.

Yes Jackie was seven. I don't necessarily think he was more mature than David Michael, but he did seem like he was a sensitive kid feelings-wise. I do think that Jackie was one of Kristy's favorite charges, but I think she always favored her own siblings. Although, then again, maybe it was more KAREN she favored, and not her siblings as a group.

I just read Kristy and the Walking Disaster and was surprised that Shea seemed a little mean to Jackie. This is uncharacterisitic for him from what I remember in other books. Any other books where Shea is either nice or mean to Jackie? I haven't read many with the Rowdowskys in them lately.
