I just read Keep Out, Claudia and it made me feel worse for the Rodowsky boys in terms of later in the series. Archie, was "cute redhead that took tumbling lessons," Jackie, of course, was "The Walking Disaster," and Shea played piano and baseball. I did enjoy reading Claudia's Friend since at least Shea got fleshed out a little. I would have liked reading about Archie's tumbling class. I wonder if Shea and Marilyn take piano lessons from the same teacher? As for Jackie, surely the writers could have given him a break after a few rounds of his being 7!

I really liked Shea in Claudia's Freind Friend and Claudia and the Recipe for Danger. In Claudia's Freind Friend, I liked how Claudia and Shea tutored each other and how they bonded over their problems in school. I liked that Shea was in the baking contest along with Claudia and Mary Anne in Claudia and the Recipe for Danger. I don't have an opinion on Archie. I don't know if I could baby-sit for Jackie. He seems so accident prone and you can't let your eyes off him for a second.

Over time, I really got tired of Jackie being the typical "walking disaster". It was cute in some books, but then just got annoying on others because you knew the subplot, or whatever featured Jackie, would have the obligatory accident. Yawn.

I thought this was the cutest thing, from Jackie's time capsule letter in Graduation Day. How nice to be loved by a little red headed walking disaster.

Am I the only one who thought Jackie's constant accidents got annoying? I remember in Abby and the Best Kid Ever, when the Rodowskys brought Jackie when they were helping Lou and her family move, and Jackie just caused more mess. WTH would you bring an accident prone kid with you when a whole house is trying to move?

I thought Jackie had the potential to be adorably clutzy, but they just took it too far and ruined his character and made him unbearably annoying to me. It's like Dawn's mom. Who is SERIOUSLY that jacked up?! It's like everytime they sit for him, he gets in 4738190 accidents and breaks 9 vases, pulls down curtains/shower rods, gets stuck in random places... it's too much. I would go absolutely nuts babysitting him. Exactly. They took Jackie's "clumsiness" to a ridiculous level and it just became annoying and unbelievable. Agreed with both of you. I like him because he's such an interesting character, with such good potential for development. But... nope. I quite liked Shea, too. I don't remember Archie. Man, I wish they'd developed some of these characters instead of just creating more and more and more.

I love the Rodowskys. I agree that the whole "walking disaster" thing with Jackie was overdone, but the kid was just so darn cute! The club did not have to act like every time one of the parents called that one of them would have to go into a war zone or something. I'm thinking of writing a "future" fic that is Jackie/OC where he's sort of started growing out of causing trouble everywhere...except it's just been replaced with some other problem. Anyone got ideas for that I could use? I'm waiting for "Claudia's Freind Friend" to come out on Kindle, because I can't find it anywhere else. I can't wait to find out more about Shea. The first time I ever noticed him was when I read one of the mysteries - "Claudia and the Recipe for Danger" I think...anyway, I thought Shea seemed pretty mature there. Archie...not really much to say. I don't think he got much focus at all.

Well, Pete Black is basically a stranger to Jackie, and he knows Jessi really well so maybe that has something to do with it? I don't know, I agree it was totally dumb to have him so scared of the croc! Exactly, I thought the reason Jackie wasn't scared of the crocodile because it was Jessi was because he knows Jessi. He didn't know Pete at all. But yeah, somehow I couldn't see a seven-year-old being that scared of a costume.

hi everybody! Just wondering did the series do anything with archie whatsoever? I mean we heard all about Jackie the walking disaster constantly and shea got a little bit more focus in that book about him and Claudia and he was also part of the mystery about the cooking competition. That I don't remember much archie except for the standard four year old redhead little brother of jackie and shea

I'm almost finished reading Claudia and the New Girl and I liked Jackie in that book. I thought that it was really sweet of Claudia to do a sculpture of him towards the end.

I really liked Jackie until his accident proneness became his personality. We never really got to read much about Archie though have we?
