What's with Karen insisting on a "Kristy's Crushers" shirt? She takes her spelling very seriously, okay...but c'mon, alliteration trumps spelling! Just wait till you get to high school, kid.

She's turning into another Alexander Kurtzman - always insisting on strict obedience to certain rules.
And in Kristy & Worst Kid Ever, she says (about Lou's dog) "she's gignudoly cute." Is "gigundoly" a real word?

Judging by how much the girls rave about them, I suppose Karen and Andrew were another bunch of Ann-favorites, like the Perkins girls. I'm sure Ann stated at one point that Karen was 'the way she'd like to be when she was younger'. Okey-dokey, then...

^ yeah, I remember that. In some ways, Ann sounds extremely irritating. I can't believe I like her series so much.

Well, it's not like she even wrote half of it...

I wonder where she got her ghostwriters from anyways?

Wouldn't Scholastic have picked them? Maybe they were writers who'd submitted manuscripts that weren't quite good enough, so Scholastic asked them to write BSC books instead. Or maybe they advertised! "Want to write popular children's books with minimal effort? Call us!".

Ghostwriters are basically wannabe authors who can't get a book deal, right? Did any of them actually go on to write stuff they'd get credit for? Actually, wait a sec. I remember seeing Peter whatshisface's name on the cover of some kids' sci-fi series once and wondered if he wrote it or got a ghostwriter for his series. Heh, I'm so skeptical now.

Peter Lerangis was the official author of few books... can't for the life of me remember the names. And Nola Thacker was ghostwriter for several of the Nightmare Hall books. I agree with sparklymouse, they seem like wannabe authors who can't get their own book deals.

I think I saw that he is now writing the new Spy X series. I just read one of them but didn't look to closely at the author's name. Didn't much care for it - give me the BSC any day!

The ghoswriters are generally unkown, although Jeanne Betancourt (sp?) went on to write a few middling children's series like Pony Pals (Mallory would be pleased). Peter Lerangis wrote a bunch of teen thrillers and a novelization of Tim Burton's awful Sleepy Hollow movie.

I'm not sure where this should go, so I'll just put it here.
In Karen's Book, when Karen tells about Kristy baby-sitting her for the first time, she says she hasn't met Elizabeth yet. What? 1) I'm pretty sure that's not true. 2) How would that even make sense? Why would she push Kristy into meeting the kids if she hasn't even met them yet? They were already considering getting engaged, why wouldn't she get to know his kids when he was getting to know hers?
The timeline was wacky in this book when you compare it with Kristy's Great Idea. Lisa and Seth were already married instead of about to be married. Karen skipped 1st grade instead of Kindergarten. Although I suppose they could have changed their mind and waited until first grade to skip her. She also said she hadn't met Kristy's brothers, but Sam (at least) had babysat for them once.
Karen and Hannie started school together. So how is it that after Karen skipped a grade, they were still in the same class? And Nancy also went to a different school when they first met?

I believe the first thing Karen says to Kristy in Kristy's Great Idea is, "Is your mom Edie Thomas?" So, she's met Elizabeth. It's weird the ghostwriters would change that later.

Karen could know who Edie/Elizabeth was without meeting her. Watson could have just told her about Elizabeth, although this seems silly.

Some people in the TWoP thread were discussing annoying things Karen did, and one member brought up the newspaper she, Hannie, and Nancy started in an LS book. I have to say that might be my favorite of the annoying things Karen did. I especially enjoyed the idea of the article called "Spare Tire" they wrote about Mr. Papadakis's gut.
