^LOL! That is hilarious! Which LS book is that in?
I liked in Karen's Kittycat Club (god, almost sounds like a stripclub or something) where she, Hannie, and Amanda Delaney started their cat-sitting club. It was cute. Definitely something I can see a bunch of little girls doing.

Was there a book once where I think Shannon's dog had puppies and Karen switched the coloured ribons around their necks or something? I was sure it was a LS book, but I never reread it, so I wasn't sure if it was real.

Some people in the TWoP thread were discussing annoying things Karen did, and one member brought up the newspaper she, Hannie, and Nancy started in an LS book. I have to say that might be my favorite of the annoying things Karen did. I especially enjoyed the idea of the article called "Spare Tire" they wrote about Mr. Papadakis's gut. I know I've read this book, so how can I possibly not remember that article? It sounds so funny!

I know there is a lot of anti-Karen sentiment but I wondered if anyone actually likes her. I don't like her that well in the regular books but love her in the Little Sister series. She does seem to mean well, even when she does bratty things. Anyone else like her?

I think Karen is a lot more likeable in the LS series, for sure. It annoys me in the regular series how everybody loves her SOOO much. Kristy is way too obsessed with her. But I don't think she's as bratty as other fans do. I mean, the girl's only seven years old, give her a break!

It's not so much Karen who bugs me, although I do think she's a brat. What I hate is how everyone loves her so much for no apparent reason. She's like the D.W. (for those of you who watch Arthur) of the series - no matter what she does, she comes out smelling like a rose. And she always, ALWAYS gets what she wants. The last straw for me was when Watson bought her a pony just because she thought he looked sad and wanted him. (Yet he won't buy her a bike. Weeeeeirdo.) Or possibly the time she found a wallet with several hundred dollars in it and complained because she ONLY got a hundred dollars as a reward and she wanted half! (And then felt sorry for herself when she spent it all before they went on a trip to an amusement park. How does a seven year old spend $100 so fast in time warp prices? And the family that lost the money turned out to be not terribly financially well-off while Karen is the child of a MILLIONAIRE.) Things that would get poor Jenny Prezzioso called the brattiest child on earth are cute when Karen does them.
Really, Karen seems like she'd be an okay kid. Spoiled and kind of bratty, but also very funny, and she did try to be nice to Natalie Springer (even though I feel like I remember her badmouthing her behind her back on a few occasions, but I could be making that up) and that new kid in the wheelchair (Addie?) If I'd had to live with her, though, I would have murdered her.

I always liked Karen. My perspective of her from the Little Sister series and the BSC are completely different. Maybe it's because I read the Little sister books first, she came across less bratty in those in my opinion. Overall, I think she is a bit of a brat, but I think she was a good kid all in all.
Andrew, I really don't have an opinion of him. He just seemed like a normal 4 year old to me. Sometimes whinny, sometimes cute.

I agree with hitzpink and mckay. Karen isn't really so horrible, it's the halo-effect that's placed on her. Everyone thinks she's sooo cute and sooo perfect when she's just a normal kid. She gets excuses made for her constantly and it's annoying.

LOL. Nah we're just dedicated readers.
But the Karen thing again. It annoyed me how she seemed to be placed up on a pedestal. I guess she was the greatest seven year old on earth.

Well, if you're great, you're great ;D Just ask my little cousin... Sorry, way off topic there but ready to kill the cocky little brat - my cousin, not Karen (imagine Karen at her brattiest, cockiest, most intolerable and multiply by 10 and add every other intolerable kid the BSC sits for). I actually love Karen in the LS books and am about to go read one now. I'm in the mood to read the one where she sings "everybody hates me, I guess I'll go eat worms" since that's how I'm feeling about right now
