What was the book where Jamie would not go to sleep? For some reason, that question popped into my head this afternoon. Was it Mal Hates Boys and Gym? I know he was being naughty in that one and breaking crayons. Usually he's pretty good, though. I really like Jamie and he kind of reminds me of one of my little cousins - can be hyper but really cute and not a bad kid at all. I love how sweet he is to Lucy. I think you're right about MHBaG being the book. He was acting up and being bratty in that one, making "rockets" out of his crayons, breaking them in half and throwing them around.

I had to laugh when Jamie is riding his bike around and around in Claudia Makes Up Her Mind. I kept thinking of the awful bike riding subplot in Kristy for President and I think Claud was too since she was starting to get annoyed and worried ;D I had forgotten about this scene and it made me laugh.

I know this is really odd...do you remember the part in SS4 where Jamie got sick on the island and was having nightmares? he said something about "snoring trees" and that always made me snicker.

I like Jaime. I don't mind him when he's annoying or being a brat; I just figure it's because he's four.

Nah.. Ive always been fond of Jamie. Sometimes he was a bit bratty, but really what can you expect from a little boy?

i really like jamie. even when i'm frustrated with him, i think back to when he was sick on the island. i can't get mad at a sick little boy who is lost. i just want to hug him.

Trust me, a 4 year old can be bratty one minute and sweet the next. I have one right now.

I feel like Jamie has lots of "aww" moments. I really like the time he asked Dawn to marry him after eating a bunch of cupcakes.

I thought Jamie sounded adorable. I wish his relationship with Kristy (she initially was his favorite sitter) and later Claudia (his 2nd favorite)? had been better developed. The only time he was annoying was when he was riding his bike!

How old do you guys think Mr and Mrs Newton are? Re-reading the earlier books recently has me thinking maybe they're only in their late twenties? Early thirties?

^I never thought about that before. I agree for some reason they at least Mrs. Newton, (maybe because she's a parent the BSC like who appears in more scenes earlier on)? comes across as younger than a lot of other parents. Wasn't Mrs. Barrett 33? I would think the Perkins would be younger, too simply to have three such young kids. On the other hand, I "see" Mrs. Prezzioso as older. Tough question, Kylie, I'll have to put my thinking cap on.

Most of the parents of younger/baby clients can't really be too much older than 35ish... Especially in the 80s when people had kids young. If Mrs N was as young as my mother when she had me, she could have been 26/27 in the books... And yeah, she's the one who always asks Claud about her art and not school.

^Another good point. I think part of this age puzzle is that all the BSC girls parents were late 30's or early 40's (weren't they)? Although as I recently said on the cover of "Jessi's Baby-sitter" Aunt Cecelia did not look as old as she's often made out to be. Do we have a thread about (adult) characters ages anywhere? All I found under "General Series Discussion" as to guess how old Peaches was. I didn't see anything under "Other Characters," either. Now, I'm also wondering how old Mal's parents are. They (Dee) has to be somewhat young(er) doesn't she?
