Back to the Barrett's, Does anyone else think its weird that Mrs. Barrett never changed Marnie's diaper, yet Dawn always somehow magically found diapers to put on her if Mrs. barrett never changed her do you think she even had any or did Dawn carry them with her?

I liked the Barretts. I especially liked them in Dawn and the Impossible Three. Marnie's ham face sounded cute. I did like that Mrs. Barrett wasn't supermom after the divorce and that she needed help since I thought it was realistic.

The Barrett kids all sound pretty cute to me. I always liked them. They weren't bad kids, and Mrs. Barrett wasn't really a bad mom... she was just a big mess (aside from her outside appearance... *irk*) and it spilled over to the kids.
I liked them better before the remarriage. I don't necessarily dislike the DeWitts, I just think the divorced family is a little more interesting than the blended family, as that had already been done in Stoneybrook.

I like reading the book comments on uandme4bsc.com, and I thought it was funny how they pointed out for SS#12 Here Come the Bridesmaids that "Suzi has a baloney dance. Now Buddy needs a sandwich meat activity since Marnie has the ham face."
BUT - Buddy's real name is Hamilton Jr, and they said in the books that his dad, Hamilton Sr, goes by "Ham". And so Buddy is actually Ham Jr.
So Buddy is Ham Jr, Suzi has a baloney dance, and Marnie has her ham face. They each have a lunchmeat trait, which I find amazing.

Buddy needs more than just a name. He needs, like, the pastrami walk or something.

Buddy has had crushes on several sitters - he had a crush on Shannon in #38 Kristy's Secret Admirer; he made an awkward attempt to flirt with Stacey in an episode of the TV series; and in #29 Mallory and the Mystery Diary, Mallory thinks that Buddy might have a crush on her (although since Ann Hates Mal, she's probably wrong. Buddy probably has a crush on every sitter except her.). Anyway, I'm getting this funny image of Buddy growing up, never getting over his unfulfilled crushes on his sitters, and having a lifelong fixation on women who are in positions of authority over him. lol. Maybe he's attracted to these girls who have authority over him, because his mom is obviously incapable of taking care of her own life, let alone her kids'!

I've been reading the Betsy-Tacy series, and the character Carney (a nickname for Caroline) was based on a real person named Marnie, which was a nickname for Marion. Now I'm wondering if "Marnie" is Marnie Barrett's full name or if it's a nickname for something else. The same with Suzi. Is it short for Suzanne? Suzannah? Susan? Or is her name just Suzi?

Suzanne Barrett is a pretty cool name. Hamilton, Suzanne, and Marion...maybe I would never go by Carney if my name was Caroline, ugh!

"Carney" makes me think of a local (I think there are 3) Carney's Hot Dogs. My Grandma used to love their dogs, I used to enjoy their fries. These are memories of 25+ years ago though. Last year, my Dad and I went to Carney's "for old times sake." I had brought a sandwich with or something. It was awful, nothing like the "old days."
Back to the Barrett kids...now that you wrote their possible names out, Booboo, they sounds awfully OLD. ITA that out of all of them, SB is the "best" but even that, imo, is just all right.

Mrs. Barrett seems like the type who would do cutesy nickname names. Actually, I've known Susie/Suzannes and plain old Suzys. A friend of a friend was a Marnie, but I don't know if that was her full name or not. I looked it up and it can be a nickname for Margaret too. (I think everything can be a nickname for Margaret. There are seriously so many names pulled out of that one.)
Carney makes me think "carnivore" or icky carnie (carnival) workers. I looked up Carnie Wilson too (from Wilson Phillips). She was going to be named Carnation, but her parents shortened it at the last minute. I'm not sure which is worse.

"Marnie" is a really ugly name, so for her sake, I hope it's short for something. I can't see an adult named Marnie out in the business world or anything. I could see her running a trendy, cute little boutique or something, though.
