Emily has really started growing on me. In some of the books, I've been finding her cute. I really like Claudia and the Great Search when Janine gives her the balloon and how Claudia helps her learn her colors and shapes. She does seem a bit behind but this is probably because of her background (poor little girl). I like her a lot better than Andrew and David Michael now, even in the Little Sister books.

Emily is cute. I love how she chases the other kids around all the time and stuff. She seems like she'd be a really exciteable little girl but also very cuddley and sweet

I forgot which book it was, but I thought it was cute when they were trying to get Emily to play Ring Around the Rosies

^ Oh I remember that, and Emily Michelle would laugh hysterically when they all fell down. That was pretty cute.

ITA...but I think that maybe this whole "language-delayed" ridiculousness was simply the writers' way of trying - albeit rather feebly - to give little Emily Michelle some sort of a storyline. There's any number of issues that might have been more interesting, and more credible -- like, maybe that she had some sort of medical problem that wasn't taken care of in the orphanage and just now got worse. But it seems that aside from getting into Karen's way, EM didn't really get too much other mention.

Never thought about it but agree about trying to give EM a plot. Though I remember mention that Sari was more advanced, this didn't really seem to be the case. EM didn't really seem delayed when compared to Marnie Barrett and Ryan Dewitt. Can they even talk at all? I guess they are several months younger though???

Yeah Emily seems right on par with most of the other two year olds (except Gabbie, of course!) I mean honestly she's only two and Claud is teaching her colors? Are two year olds supposed to know their colors already? And doesn't she teach her to write an E or something?!

From the way Claudia is always described I would be wary of letting Claudia teach my children anything but art. LOL.

Well...art involves color, heh. I think she was basically teaching her how to match things more than identify the colors and shapes themselves, wasn't she? And yeah, all the toddlers outside of Gabbie Perkins pretty much just sit and drool.

Are two year olds supposed to know their colors already? And doesn't she teach her to write an E or something?! I wondered about this too as I know nothing about child development at different ages so I asked my mom last night (she has an education degree). She said that there is a normal range but all kids are different. Apparently, I knew my colors when I was 1 1/2 but some boy who grew up with me (and is normal - not slow or anything) didn't know his until he was almost 5. She said that I did everything early, though, including talking and my cousin who is the same age didn't start talking until about 2 years after I did. She said EM and the other toddlers all sound normal to her - they're just different kids. Notice I'm talking about them like they are real people ;D That's serious obsession.

If they didn't explain it, we might think Emily Michelle was Elizabeth and Mr. Kishi's love child. ;D Well, there are already theories that David Michael is Richard Spier's son, so I guess anything is possible. ;D I also think Emily Michelle is adorable. I loved how, in Kristy and Mr. Mom, Kristy described how Emily was running around the house grabbing pictures to put in Watson's Get Well Quick basket.

DM as Richard's son??? Haven't heard that one but it sounds totally far fetched. Mr. Kishi as Emily's dad too. Who comes up with these things? I really like Emily the more I read about her. I just read and liked when she said "uck" about the cigar butts in Fashion Victim. ;D

^ Just realized the thing about the different dads was probably meant as a big joke with nothing behind it. Sorry, I think my sense of humor is asleep today ;D Anyway, in that train of thought, maybe Emily is really Watson's biological daughter but her mom is an oriental woman. Aunt Peaches maybe??? Perhaps that's why he and Lisa got a divorce.... ;D

^LOL, yeah, I always wondered why those two got divorced. This site is where I found the theory that David Michael was Richard's son, but mainly because of the double name. ("David Michael" "Mary Anne"...etc.) They also say, using that theory that Richard fathered Emily Michelle and John Phillip Ramsey Jr. (Squirt) ;D
