Didn't see a thread for her, so I started one.
What do you think about her?
In a way, I feel sorry because the way her parents treated her, but she also annoyed me with her smug, know-it-all attitude.
I think that making her good at everything(acting, singing, dancing, playing instruments, modeling(why? When I read the description of her: big, thick red hair and large glasses, I pictured a younger Mallory), being an awesome speller and a great artist plus being exellent at every school subject, having a great IQ) made her a stereotypical character and it would make a nice twist to the story if there were anything she actually sucked at.
I dislike "stage parents" with a passion.

I completely agree with you! Why did this kid have to be good at everything?? I think it would've been nice if she wasn't a natural in the only thing she really enjoyed doing (art) but had to work for it. That would've been a good message I think. I also wondered about the modelling thing because I imagened her as a Mallory as well I also dislike "stage parents", I felt really bad for rosie at some points.

I mostly hold a grudge over Rosie because she was in the movie, which was totally stupid. Other than that, I don't have much of an opinion on her. Didn't she help Claire Pike try to get an agent once? That was cute.

Good point about the modeling thing, I never thought about that! Her attitude didn't really annoy me because I think she just got it from her parents. They were awful, I really felt bad for her being pushed into so many things like that and not being able to just enjoy being a kid.

Rosie Wilder looks just like a young Mallory, who is the only Pike with reddish hair. Both girls have a fondness for art. However, Mallory does not have much talent for violin, piano, tap, and singing, so the unsatisfied Wilders agreed to her adoption by Mr. and Mrs. Pike.

^Or, Mrs. Pike was having an affair with Mr. Wilder! Or maybe Mr. Rodowsky was schtupping Mrs. Pike and Mrs. Wilder.
I felt bad for Rosie because her parents pushed her so hard. I can see her growing up to be Mary-Kate Olsen.

Ooh, I totally agree, lilafowler! No way did Rosie escape that house unscathed. She's totally going to have issues when she gets older!

I kind of wish that I could have done some of the things that Rosie got to do- acting, singing, and modeling mostly. I already play instruments. But I think that would be way to much- I'm surprised that Rosie hasn't tried to run away to like her grandparents to escape all of the activities.

Anyone know if Rosie really skipped a grade? I thought I remember that being mentioned in one of the threads on here but don't remember it in any of the books. Maybe I missed it or am imagining things in thinking that she did. Just wondering about this.

"Stage parents" don't bother me so much when, you know, that's all their kids do. But my god, Rosie did EVERYTHING! Poor kid. She must have been exhausted. It's also not very realistic - child actors who are serious about it need to be able to drop everything for an audition, and Rosie was so scheduled it's amazing she ever managed to be seen for a job!

I know, mckay. I felt so sorry for her - when did she have time to breathe? My little cousin screams and cries every night about having so much to do (she's a drama queen though anyway ) with just her homework, track, practicing basketball (on her own whenever) and Confirmation class for church one night a week. It seems like kids today have much more homework, though, then they did when I was in school. Wonder how Rosie would have been able to handle it. She wasn't homeschooled, right? Also wondering if it was ever mentioned that she had friends. I doubt she even had time for that. Poor kid.

I always felt bad for Rosie as well. She was doing so much it seemed like she didn't have time to just be a normal kid, have fun, run around etc. I would always make sure that my future kid someday will have time for fun and to just be a kid.

^ Totally agree. It seemed like the parents were trying to live out some dreams through their child. And all the things Rosie was doing seemed like they felt like work to her. I can understand if the parents were doing it just to teach her how to discipline herself, so she can be prepared when she enters adulthood, but all of it just seemed like too much.

I feel so sorry for Rosie. Her parents need to back off and let her be a kid and enjoy life - it's too short to be pressured into so many things. One or two things, okay, but all the things she does. This thread makes me think of Uncle Dandy and I've been laughing about that since my cousin is going to school to become a talent scout so lately we've been calling him "Uncle Dandy" I just noticed the links at the bottom - modeling, agency, piano lessons. The Wilders would be happy with these
