Was pretty indifferent on these two but the girls did seem cute and I loved Dawn and the ripped blankie subplot. Am reading Kristy and Mr. Mom right now and think that Mrs. Marshall has earned a place in the bad parents of charges catagory by leaving 5 little kids with one sitter and not even telling the BSC beforehand that the 3 extras would be there. That's something Mrs. Barrett would do. By the way, is there ever a mention of Mr. Marshall?

I don't think these girls were mentioned nearly enough, I really like to read about them. They sound cute. The blankie subplot was a little disturbing to me, though, because I think that if I would've had a blankie as a kid, I would have died if any such thing happened to it.

When I was little, I would have gone mental if I had a babysitter who wrecked something I really loved and was attached to. Dawn was let off pretty easy...
When I first read Kristy and Mr Mum, for a long time I thought Mrs Marshall was a b*tch for expecting the BSC to watch all 5 kids with just one sitter. However, reread it recently and in a way, I don't think it was just Mrs Marshall's fault. The girls should have told her from the start about their 4 kids/ 2 sitters rule. Also, she only has 2 kids and didn't know that more kids means more sitters and more money. I mean generally babysitters in reality don't do that. Also when both Stacey and Claud appeared at the door, they didn't really explain the rules to her - I think she thought they were trying to scam her into giving more money.

I would think it's pretty safe to assume that more children = more responsibility = more money. But I do think it's weird that Stacey and Claudia just BOTH showed up without telling her first.
I don't really have an opinion on the Marshalls. They never seemed like they had much personality to me. They were kind of outshined by girls like the Perkins.

I think that Stacey and Claud should have told Mrs. Marshall first but I guess them springing that on her serves her right for springing the extra kids on them What I didn't like about her was how she reacted to Mallory when Mal tried to tell her that there was a problem. She seemed like "well, too bad - just don't expect to get paid more." Agreed that the BSC could have handled things better but that still doesn't excuse Mrs. Marshall for being so irresponsible. If the kids wouldn't have been so little, I wouldn't think as much of it. I didn't think much about it the first few times I read the book, though, so maybe it is just the mood I am in today Any mentions ever of a Mr. Marshall?

Nina's blankie may be one of my favorite Dawn moments ever--such quick thinking, and so sweet. It's one of those things I actually have filed in the back of my mind "in case of emergency. . ." I also remember a cute scene where they get really excited when Kristy makes them grilled cheese sandwhiches and cuts them into circles to make "cheesy suns."
I always thought those girls sounded cute--the Perkins girls are cute, too, but sometimes I thought they seemed a little bit too much, whereas Nina and Eleanor seemed to me more like regular sweet kids. I also just love the names Nina and Eleanor--they're kind of classic and traditional, but a little bit offbeat and uncommon, too, which is my favorite kind of name.

I didn't like the blankie subplot. I agree with inge and liss31d; I found it disturbing.
Actually, although I am 26 years old, I'm pretty sure I would still scream and cry if that happened to my baby blanket.
