I was really glad to know for sure that Marc lived, too. Though I couldn't see him dying in a BSC book. This is perfectly okay with me - I need a few more happy endings. I do wish Marc would have been mentioned again, some of the other once-used clients too. Would be good ties to situations like Danielle's. That brings up a point, did Stacey ever sit for Danielle Roberts? I haven't read any of the books about her for a while. I can see that Stacey would be able to relate to her.

How about the baby, Tara something, from Mystery 1? Never saw her again and the family was supposed to have forgiven Stacey.

^ I always wondered about the Gardettas, too. I doubt they called the BSC again but if they did, I wonder if the girls would have taken the job. I might not have. Tara was cute, though (even though the pets they had grossed me out ;D)

I know in the complete guide, there is a little note above the Gardella's profile that says "The BSC will probably not be babysitting for the Gardella's anymore" Makes sense... I wouldnt want to either, forgiven or not.

I don't really like the one-off clients, actually. Maybe because I know we'll never hear from them again, but for the most part I don't really warm up to them. I did like Marc, though. He was so sweet and I was glad that he lived through his surgery (though I knew he would). I liked Tara and the Menders family (except the boy...Jason? He didn't do anything for me, he wasn't needed), too, I suppose. I guess I just like seeing the characters more than once.

I think Lionel was the most interesting Menders kid. Jill was sort of funny, and Martha and Jason were kind of annoying. But I felt bad for Martha because she gets such a boring name while Jill has a much cuter, age-appropriate one. Did they do that because she's the less outgoing sister?

I loved the Nicholls boys in #117. It makes sense for them to be one-book characters, though, given that the boys and their mother had to move to New York to get away from their father. It would have been nice to hear from them in another book, maybe a letter to Claudia saying that they're all right, but that might have been out of place in a later book so I don't know how it could have fit in.

Both Jill and Martha seem like really strong examples of Ann's obsession with the 1950s-- neither one of those names was even remotely common for girls born in the 1980s!

^Really? I always thought Jill was a very 80s name. I might only feel that way because there was a girl in my grade named Jill who was very much the cool-Valley-girl-at-the-mall type.
I also have a cousin Martha who was born in the 80s, but her name did always seem old fashioned.

"Jill" has always seemed old-fashioned to me. I just looked it up on Baby Name Wizard and apparently it peaked in the 1960s (later than I thought, haha). I do remember quite a few Jillians growing up, though, so maybe it was short for that.
ETA: I was always really surprised that more BSC kids didn't have common 80s names. They do use Jennifer, Rachel, Sarah, Ashley etc; but I never see any Tiffanys or Ambers or Brittanys.... I guess Kristin and Jessica were common, though, and Abby is definitely a big one. Maybe the "randomness" of names like Claudia, Mallory, Mary Anne, and Dawn just sticks out to me!

Jill always reminded me of Jack and Jill and Martha of Martha Washington, and was why I didn't think of Jill as being that old-fashioned, I guess!

valuemeal2 There's Tiffany Kilbourne, Shannon's little sister! She's a minor character, though.

Also, there was an Amber in Mallory's horse-riding class. I think that she invites the class to her house or something like that.

I never really thought of Jill as an old fashioned name to be honest, but I knew a few Jill's growing up, so that could be why.
