I guess it's understandable since I've sometimes wondered if parents would feel comfortable having a 13 year old boy sit for their daughters. Thinking of it, it shouldn't be any different than having a 13 year old girl sit for sons but for some reason it seems different. I don't know. Anyway, it makes sense that Logan would sit more for the boys (especially the Rowdowskys - give the Walking Disaster to the lowly associate member boy. He can handle it ))

Well in a universe where 15 year olds hit on 11 year olds...
Guess this is off topic, but why exactly was Toby at Sea City all the time? I know Alex was a mother's helper...but was Toby just tagging along?? Strange.

Weren't Alex and Toby cousins or something? Still wouldn't explain Toby tagging along if that's what he was doing, but I think they may have mentioned they were both mother's helpers. I don't remember specifically, though.

Question about the Hobarts that just came into my mind: who is James good friends with? I don't know if it is ever mentioned but for some reason, I picture him hanging out with Jake Kuhn a lot. I know that he makes the play with the Perkins girls in one book but was wondering what other boys his age he spent a lot of time with. What about Mathew? They seem too nice and calm (and are younger) to spend much time around the Pike boys

I always just remember the Hobart boys playing together. I can't think of who else outside of their family they hung out with.

Just read Secret of Susan and answered the question I was going to ask (just by chance) about whose house they moved into (MA's) and when. I love how Mal gets the big crush on Ben. I could have just hugged James for sticking up for Susan when Mel and Zach are picking on here. That is something I would have done as a kid (and did do, enduring much ridicule for it). It's nice that kids who do things like this in real life can have some characters in the BSC books to relate to. I think it also encourages this type of behavior. As always, I love the Hobarts. They seem like such realistic, good kids - the kind I would have wanted as friends. In Secret of Susan, I know James becomes friends with Zach at the end. Is this ever mentioned again? For some reason, I thought Zach resurfaced as a bully again in later books.

^about James Hobart's friends... he's in the same class as Nicky Pike, and he has a crush on Carolyn Arnold.

I didn't know he was in the same class as Nicky. The Hobart boys always seemed really sweet. I was really surprised at their attitudes in Mallory Hates Boys (and Gym) at first.

Those kids seem like they would be so fun to babysit. They are so well behaved. I think Ben is really sweet, too. He is one of the only boys(his age) that doesn't tease Mallory.

I agree. The boys sound like they behave very well and Ben sounds like a good friend to have on your side.

I, too, adore the Hobart boys and wish they'd been in more books. I love when they're having the Valentine's party and they want to dress up in suits and bring flowers, that's just so sweet!
Who do you think has the room that looks into Myriah's, though?

I like the Hobarts, too. In one book, I remember it was mentioned that their accents were starting to fade. And in another, it one of the boys said something, and the narrator said he "still had a trace of an Australian accent." I can't remember which books either of those came from, though. I guess if you moved to the US from another English-speaking country as a really little kid, you'd lose the accent eventually. But I always liked to imagine them with the accent of their native country.

Yeah, there was a girl in my seventh or eighth grade class from England and within a year or two her accent had pretty much faded.

yeah they sound adorable for sure, probably even when they were being bad in Mallory Hates Boys and Gym.
