What ever happened to Jamie and Lucy Newton's cousins the Feldman's? They were in books #1, 2, and one other, but did they ever come back? I liked them- they were funny. I wish she would have written about them again.

I JUST posted about them in Underused Clients. I read about them in Dawn on the Coast (#23) and liked them, too. I wondered if they were in earlier books so will now have to reread #1 and #2. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who thought they were funny and wish they would have been in more books. Did they live in Stoneybrook? Was that ever mentioned?

I think they lived in a nearby town, but I could be wrong.
ETA: Just checked the complete guide, and it doesn't say. Under Rob Feldman, though, there's this: Jamie's ten year old cousin, (#23), [eight #1 page 73]
I suppose he was eight in book #1 but ten in #23? Weird...But I knew ten seemed too old when I first saw that, eight makes more sense.

When I was little, I kind of wanted to read the "Babies in Space" book Rob had that inspires him to help Claudia (?) take care of Lucy, because, hee! Babies! In space! That's almost as good as babies fighting crime! It just gives me mental images of little babies in onesies with those big plastic bubble-type space helmets on floating around in zero gravity. I could never find such a book though, and I don't turn up anything that looks like it on Google or Amazon now (although I didn't look past the first couple of pages, so I could be wrong). It must be one of those "only in Stoneybrook" things. Like Cam Geary.

Why does that not surprise me??? I'm surprised she didn't want the babies dressed as famous paintings or something. Dressing them as artists, though, might have been cute - little paint covered smocks and berets

I'm glad to see that I am not paranoid. They didn't sound that hard to babysit, did they? They were just a little noisy- like any normal kid would be. I liked in #1 where Claudia was reading and one of them, I can't remember who, was running around and wouldn't stop running, she would just slow down whenever she got near Claudia. I think it was Rosie. I liked the Feldman's because they seemed like real kids, unlike the Perkins or Jamie Newton.

I'm not so into the Feldmans. Give me the Perkins or Newtons or Marshalls anyday. I hate reading about the unruly charges, it stresses me out and I can imagine being in the situation and just like, yelling at them. I don't think I have the patience the BSC have

I like reading about the unruly kids sometimes but like it being balanced with the good ones - I think that is a more accurate representation of reality. I share sotypical's lack of patience, which is why I like the baby-sitting chapters. I can "deal" with kids and "give them back" by putting the book down immediately.

I just reread Kristy's Great Idea and found the chapter where Claud sits for them quite funny. They are so bad that they're entertaining to read about. I always love reading about the good charges too (who are also realistic in my experiences - I've actually known some "Perkins girls" and "Charlottes) but the Feldmans add a little interesting variety. I like how Claud ignores them and Jamie starts to, too. To answer my own question about where they are from, it doesn't mention an exact location but says they are visiting. So they are not from Stoneybrook.

I love it in Dawn on the Coast when Rosie is being really loud and annoying and little Gabbie Perkins says "You be quiet Rosie Feldman. You're really hurting my ears." ;D I always think of Gabbie as being 3 or 4 as opposed to permanently 2 and a half.
