^ Agree that they liked earning their own money but it seemed like they had to buy practically everything for themselves, sometimes. But like I said, I'm supposedly "spoiled" so..... ;D Were the Delaneys in any other books besides Kristy and the Snobs and Poor Mallory? I know they are in some LS books but wasn't sure about BSC. Also, is just Max a Krusher? Somehow can't picture Amanda playing ;D

I can't picture her playing either. She reminds me of this girl I went to high school who was also named Amanda. She was incredibly spoiled and bitchy. Makes me wonder how Amanda Delaney would turn out if she was allowed to grow up.

Isn't Mrs. Delaney in real estate? I think in Poor Mallory, she had to take classes and that was why she needed a sitter 3x/week.
Anyway...I really want to know why they left Stoneybrook.

I think it might mention their reason (maybe Mr. Delaney - who I assume is a lawyer ;D - had to move for work???) in Karen's Goodbye. I haven't read it for a while, though, so it might not say the exact reason.

But it was some distance away, so there was surely a reason beyond that.

it actually wasn't that far. just far enough to necessitate a change in schools.

It was near Lawrenceville and near their grandparents, too. Just checked Karen's Goodbye and no reason was given for the move.

Is Lawrenceville in Connecticut?

^ There are two of them mentioned in the BSC books that I remember. One is in NJ (and I think a real place) where Toby who Stacey dates in Sea City lives. The other is a town fairly near Stoneybrook, so I would assume CT. I would guess that is the one Amanda moved to because that is the one Karen would know. I had to laugh at the hilarious illustration of Mr. Delaney in Karen's Goodbye wearing the mask, flippers and swim ring. ;D He doesn't seem like that kind of guy (though I've never read anything about him) but who knows???

I always kind of liked Amanda and Max. I agree with what you guys have said, it wasn't their fault that they were spoiled and had no manners - it was just how they were raised and they didn't know any better. I loved them bossing the BSC around. ;D The "get me a coke" thing always makes me laugh. I liked reading about Amanda's friendship with Karen in LS, and especially in Karen's Goodbye when she is sad about moving. It makes you see her as a real kid, not just the "brat" that the BSC had swoop in and fix with their stupid reverse psychology.
And about how Amanda always introduces Priscilla as their cat "who cost $400." Where would she have even gotten that information?! It makes you wonder the kind of crap their parents are telling them - why would you even mention to your kid how expensive the cat was?

^Yeah I like Amanda a lot more in LS books, it def shows another side of her and it's too bad they sent her away so early on!

I wish that they hadn't chosen to get rid of the Delaneys... couldn't they have gotten rid of one of Karen's other friends who weren't in the BSC? Even though I would have gotten very annoyed sitting for Amanda and Max, I like reading about them, with Amanda and her obsession with costs and Max's "hysle cat/high silk hat" episode!
Oh and the Delaneys were in Jessi and the Dance School Phantom. They argued over entering Priscilla in the show and in the end Amanda did, dousing her in strong perfume, whilst Max entered Boo Boo who was purring in Max's arms!

^ I loved the thing in Dance School Phantom. The fact that Boo Boo loved Max always made me laugh. The Delaneys were my favorite thing about that Pet show. I can just "smell" the $400 cat drenched in perfume ;D
