While there may not have been any obvious tomboys, I thought most of the female clients were pretty well-rounded. They all seemed to be pretty active and liked playing outside but also liked "girlie" things like dolls and playing pretend.

^ Agree. I did like that as that's how I was. I would play in the woods with my dolls, actually ;D

^ That reminds me of myself... That's true. Karen- usually a pretty girlie-girl and a whole bunch of girls were in the Krushers. Carolyn Arnold may not have been athletic, but we know she liked science, usually a stereotypical 'boy' hobby. On the other side, Nicky does some sewing in Maid Mary Anne...

^ Buddy, too. I always liked that subplot and how the boys decided they weren't too cool for sewing. I also enjoyed reading about the triplets baking the cookies in that book.

You just reminded me- that was probably the best sitting chapter in a BSC book ever.

Wow, I have never read Maid Mary Anne, I had no idea the boys were sewing! That's kinda cool, although I can't imagine 7/8 year old boys sewing in real life.

They all seemed to be pretty active and liked playing outside but also liked "girlie" things like dolls and playing pretend. That is exactly how I was when I was a kid. I would play with my dolls but then I would go outside and play baseball. It was nice to have fun doing both.

I was the same, msstock. I liked a LOT of girlie things - dolls, barbies, playing house, dressing up - but I also loved to go outside and build forts, go sledding, play baseball, etc.

I was like that too. I played dolls with my sister (usually playing "house" where my room was my house and her room was her house and we'd visit one another with our "babies") but I was a big tomboy too. I actually enjoyed reading about more girly girls though when I was a kid.

One of the Arnold twins was tomboyish. Betsy Sobak also seemed a little tomboyish to me.
