I guess I just never gave this issue that much thought. Maybe the kids in Stoneybrook were just easy to please. ;D

^Not all of them are easy charges (the Pikes and Barrett/DeWitts come to mind...)

Some of ther sitters had a special bond with a kid and often sat for them but I don't think any were exclusive. Here's what I can think of (this does not include their own families).
Claudia-Rosie Wilder Mary Anne-Jenny Prezzizo Stacey-Charlotte Johannson Dawn-the Barretts (at least at the beginning) Jessi-the Braddocks
Although he's only an associate member but I think Logan often babysat for the Rodowskys when he did babysit. It makes sense because they where three boys.

I wondered this before... because I know when we were kids, we had a few sitters, and my parents always asked us who we wanted. They figured if they were going out and having a great time, why shouldnt we? I think Ann wanted us to believe that all the sitters were fantastically fun sitters, but even if they were, personalities clash.

True, you would think they may have been at least a few intances of personalities between the sitter's and the client's clashing a bit.

I never really thoght about this before with the exception of at the very beginning of the Series Jamie saying Kristy was his favorite Sitter. I really don't remember reading about that later. I think to some extent Claudia or as Jamie sometimes called her "Claudee" took over his favorite Sitter role but even that was limited.
Other than Stacey/Charlotte and Kristy/Karen and Andrew to a lesser extent there really weren't too may long standing one Sitter requests.
OT, a little, I wonder if the Prezzioso's (even and especially Jenny) ever wondered why only Mary Anne generally always sat for them?

Poor kid, it must have been hard to be considered so unlikeable especially sine it wasn't like she was that bad of a kid to begin with.

I always thought that the Pikes preferred Mary Anne over all the other sitters and that Jamie preferred Kristy or Claudia. Jenny just wound up with Mary Anne because Mary Anne is the only one who liked to sit for her, not necessarily Jenny liking her the most.

If a charge is the focus of a story, they'll usually have just the one sitter for that whole story. This is like in "Jessi's Secret Language" with the Braddocks...actually, now I'm remembering a bunch of Jessi ones. The regular charges usually get any sitter unless they've expressed interest in one in particular (eg: Charlotte with Stacey) or are looking after their own siblings when they're not busy (eg: Mallory, Jessi, Kristy...). I mean, Kristy usually babysits for the kids in her neighbourhood, and Mary Anne (early on) and Claudia usually got all the jobs with the Perkinses, but that was because they lived nearby. My main memory of anyone was when Rosie Wilder stated outright that the only sitter she wanted was Claudia, because she liked her best.

Didn't Charlotte automatically want Claudia to babysit her after Stacey moved the first time? You know since Claudia's her best friend. That's an example.

Yeah, that was in "Little Miss Stoneybrook...and Dawn". I don't think she ever requested a particular sitter again during the time Stacey was in New York, like she had different sitters during "Stacey's Emergency".

I also just remembered that while the Barretts' original favourite sitter was Dawn, Buddy also really got on with Mallory once she helped him get into reading. In "Mallory On Strike", the last chapter has Mrs Barrett calling and saying that Buddy requested Mallory. That particular instance of helping him with reading was revisited in Mallory's last book, along with her helping the Arnold twins and the Delaneys.
