Agreed about her trying to be serious, virgo. But the character comes off really monotone and hardly even likeable in the movie. I feel like Schuyler gave Kristy some of the character's necessary energy, but RLC put none into hers.
But I guess the same could be said for Claudia, who even if she was worried about her grades, would still be fun-loving and enthusiastic like Claud is supposed to be. Yeah, I was pretty disappointed with most of the movie characters!

Did anyone else think Mary Anne came off kinda cold and mean in the movie? If I had never read the books, I definitely would not have guessed that she was the sensitive and caring one. And what was up with Dawn and Mary Anne's patriotic decor??? Like at their house?

^Yes, there's a few scenes at Mary Anne's and Dawn's house, like where one of them will be on the phone, and it's like patriotic household decor everywhere.

^That's true. Maybe they never took down their 4th of July stuff?

I just watched the film and have to say I like the tv show much better. (I've also just watched every episode thanks to Itunes) I just like the cast of the tv show better and better actresses.

I watched the movie a couple months ago and I was just dying over the outfits. Mallory was actually super cute with her tie (and I wore my fair share of ties as a preteen, unfortunately) but everything was so perfectly 1990s.

I was just thinking about Ellen B. in this movie and when she yells, "MY SNAPDRAGGGONS!!!"

Haha! I forgot she was in this movie. I need to re-watch.
I like when she says "'Dawn?' How sixties."

It's funny but as a kid I assumed Ellen Burstyn wasn't a very good actor (and I couldn't tell you why except that this movie is pretty cheesy), but lately I keep seeing her other stuff and she's actually quite talented. I watched Requiem for a Dream a few months ago and her performance was chilling. She was nominated for best supporting actress for that film and I think it's totally deserved.

She is memorable in "How to Make an American Quilt."

I watched the BSC movie last weekend because I'm now at the August 1995 books in my readthrough, so it seemed like a good time for it. I think my favourite part is Luca saying "THIRTEEN!" over and over again in the cab. I laughed forever at that. And the cab driver helpfully piping up that she and her husband were engaged at thirteen... "You stay out of this."

I watched the movie on Friday. I loved it! The cast was portrayed very similar to the BSC books. Jessi and Mallory looked way too young, though. Claudia and Stacey didn't look 13, more like 17 or 18. Kristy and Mary Anne were so cute, and Dawn was pretty. I never pictured Kristy having freckles? This movie was so funny like the scene where Suzi is in the bathroom shaving haha and Luca kept repeating "13!!??" over and over again lol. Also somebody comments "Dawn. How 60's." Dawn is a total hippie anyway. The subplot with Kristy and her dad was enjoyable. I really disliked Patrick a lot. He was selfish. Overall I loved the movie. it's better than the TV show in my opinion.
