My husband and I just watched this this afternoon (I found it sitting in the mailbox waiting for me at our hopefully-soon-to-be-sold house after flying home for Easter, very exciting...). We where joking about how gross it was was for supposed 13 year old to be kissing a 17 year old. And then we realized that when I was 13 my husband would have been 21. Cue awkward silence. Maybe there's hope for Stacey and Luca after all. But you weren't dating then, right? If not, it's a huge difference. How old are you anyway?

Oh no (ick!) I'm 21 and he's 27. We where mostly just joking. Maybe you had to be there.

I never actually thought about the Stacey/Luca thing til I re-watched this movie as an adult. I really don't understand why they'd put that in there. He was way too old for her. They could've made him 16 at least, rather than 17. I also hate how Kristy's 13th b-day is coming up in the movie! Mal and Jessi def shouldn't have been there if she was only now turning 13! I think the girl who played Stacey was really cute. She is a MUCH better representation of Stacey than the TV girl or the pics on the book covers.

I tried to watch the movie yesterday but I ended up fast forwarding through most of it before I just turned it off. I kept thinking about all the things that were wrong with it and wasn't in the mood to let them slide. Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for a movie.

I'm 26 and my boyfriend is 31, so when I was 13, he would have been 18. Luckily, he is not a creep like Luca. Not that we knew one another when I was 13, anyway.

My boyfriend and I only have a 3 year and 4 day difference between us, but we always like to joke about how for 4 days when I was 12 he was 16 and our relationship would've been totally inappropriate. Of course I didn't meet him until I was 21, so we bypassed any potentially creepy situations, but it makes us laugh anyway.

I found this in the 3 dollar box at Fry's a year ago. I almost cried... I had tried to find it for like almost a year. And there it was at Fry's.
Did you notice that the only time Jessi "walks instead of dances" is in the beginning during the intro? That never caught my eye until right now. And the actor's ages bugged me.
Stacey and Luca were gross!!!!

I love all those things you mentioned, buffykay! Cokie's friends were so dumb and hilarious. "She's a hermit?" "Isn't that some kind of animal?" "PERMITS! You idiots!"

AS for the girl who played Stacey in the movie looking 17, I agree she looked older than 13...but I think she was actually 15 when the movie was made...so I guess not TOO far off. (heck the girl who played Claudia was 17!!) But yeah, Bre Blair was a much closer representation of Stacey. She was pretty much how I always imagined Stacey to look, much unlike Jessica Prunell...who did have the curley hair going...however I always imagined Stacey as a fluffy blonde, not curly. Did anyone know that the girl who played Jessi was 9 when filming started....NINE!!!!!! she turned ten on the set. At least most of the girls were close to the ages they were supposed to be portraying (minus claud)

I saw the movie for my 10th birthday (I think it may have even been the day it came out) and I brought an issue of "Tiger Beat" with me that had an interview with each of the girls. The girl who played Jessi talked about how she thought everyone would forget her 10th birthday but they remembered and I remember being ridiculously excited that I was the same age as Jessi.

I also have a boyfriend with a pretty sizable amount of years on me... 21 vs 28. But since he is also russian, there are about a million cultural differences that come to mind before any issues stemming from the age gap. I mean, he doesn't even know what the bsc is!! I think stacey was cast well but her clothes were hideous. In general I think the casting was good but I don't care if her mom is famous, kristy shouldn't be a redhead.

I heard , way back when I think whena around the time taht the movie first came out, that she sent a video to the directors or something auditioning for Kristy. I actually didn't mind her too much minus the reddish hair..I always kind of liked the softer side of Kristy...nice knowning taht she wasn't such a hard head all the time.

I think what really bugged me was the way Schuyler Fisk's hair changed throughout the movie...if you're going to go ahead and dye your hair dark brown, keep it consistent (scene-wise), movie people. In some scenes her hair is very, very dark (like the part where she and Mary Anne are playing Clue), and in others it's quite red (like near the end when Cokie falls out of the tree and into the dumpster).

Heh, this was on Showtime today. Rachel Leigh Cook was THE perfect MA, besides that whole short hair thing. ....someone before mentioned that MA wouldn't have had her makeover if Kristy was turning 13. MA and Dawn also wouldn't be stepsisters yet. And would Mal and Jessi even be in the club?? If I'm not mistaken, they didn't join the club until well after Kristy had turned 13. aaahhhh, I can't believe I never caught that before if that's true. HUGE inconsistency.
