As much as I love Sissy Spacek in "Coal Miner's Daughter", her daughter sucked as Kristy. TV Kristy was perfect!
And word on how dorky Logan was in "MA and the Brunettes." He looked a heck of a lot better in "The Baby Sitters and the Boy Sitters." I thought he looked more like Logan in that episode. I was shocked to find out that it was the same guy. It's like they did a total "My FAir Lady" thing with him. *sigh* I miss that show so much.

Forgot to add- why did Mary Anne only have one episode and the rest of the sitters got more than one? I've always wondered that.

TV Mary Anne didn't seem right to me either, she looked a lot like a girl I went to high school with.
Jessi also looked like my friend when she was younger.
Both Mallory's were great choices I thought.
I thought Stacey from the TV series was gorgeous.
Kristy from the TV series was great too.

Stacey had a ton and that was because she was easily the favorite sitter by the majority of the fans. Man...now I want to go home and watch all of these, I have all of them on tape somewhere...

The only episode I've seen is Claudia and the Missing Jewels (got it off eBay a couple of months ago). It's the greatest TV show ever! For reals. The "disguises" they use when they're tailing Julie are inspired. And Mallory and Jessi tailing her!! Best thing ever.

...how have I not ever seen this thread?! I remember LOVING the TV show as a kid... then when I was like, 17, I downloaded the theme song from napster. hah. I've only got 2 of the videos now but I still remember so much from the show.
My favorite episode was where they help "Courtney" run for class president or whatever... who the fk is this random Courtney, anyway?? I loved the Count on Court! Count on Court!... always made me laugh.
TV Stacey... omg SO GREAT. Her hair is out of this world. So so so awesome. Claud looked like she was like 25, as did Dawn. Didn't care for either of them. I agree, TV Kristy is PERFECT. MA... argh possibly my least favorite as far as casting goes. The girl was gigantic and did NOT capture the spirit of MA at all.
I really don't remember TV Jessi and Mal and Logan.

^I totally agree about Mary Anne! That girl was AWFUL! She was freaking huge and then they tried to make her seem young, but she was just whiney and creepy. Major thumbs down to her.
And even if you took away the accent and the fact that she looked 25, I thought Dawn was really bad. That girl just did not say "California Casual" to me. New Jersey mallrat, yes. Dawn Schafer, no.

I could never figure out why Stacey's hair was like that and then one day it clicked. She was supposed to have a perm! The Mallory actress wore a wig, which you can tell if you stare at her long enough.
I just remember the episode where they went to NYC to cheer Stacey up and her neighborhood totally looked like Sesame Street. Awesome set design on this show, heh.

The ironic thing about the suckiness of the miscast Mary Anne is that I could SWEAR somewhere that I read they thought the actress was so perfect that they delayed filming until her braces came off!
I had most of the episodes on tape from HBO/Disney, and a few my mom bought cheap, but I know I only managed to catch "Jessi and the Stolen Secrets" once. (I only remember the title because it's advertised on one of my official boxes). Anyway, I haven't read "Claudia and the Little Liar," but it looks like kind of the same plot, but the episode must have been made YEARS before that book! Were they so stretched for ideas they had to stretch a 30-minute videoscript into a book?

I just watched two more! (More great eBay purchases). "Stacey's Big Break" and "Dawn and the Haunted House". I love how you can tell the difference between Dawn and Stacey by their hair - not something you can do with the covers.
Favourite moment ever: in Dawn and the Haunted House, when they're having their scary sleepover, and Jessi is all cosy and snuggled up with Mallory. Sexual references ahoy!

Oh God this tv series broke my heart It was actually the reason I started READING the series- I saw an ad for the show on TV and thought it looked great. I only caught the last five minutes of one episode- then a few days later I was in a bookshop and saw it was a series! Five minutes was the most I saw out of any episode. They started showing them regularly on Sundays at 12 when I was at mass- I nearly drove myself crazy trying to catch the shows. Never seen a whole one. Wish I could just download them all or buy a dvd box set or SOMETHING!

Dude, what the heck books were THEY basing this character off of? The only one who was right to me in the tv show was Kristy, and Dawn minus the Boston accent and like 10 years. Oh and Stacey was perfect...solely for the hair of course.

Jessi is all cosy and snuggled up with Mallory. Sexual references ahoy! They are always SO affectionate in this show, it's ridiculous. They are constantly hugging, holding hands, walking arm-in-arm, petting each other, etc. I've never known a group of 13 year olds to walk down the street holding hands with each other.

The sleepover in The Baby-Sitters Remember is like one big orgy! They are way too lovey dovey. And the bit in Baby-Sitters Remember when some suggests swapping possessions over the summer so they take a little piece of each other, and Mary Anne says she has them all in her heart? *throws up*
