I love that this is still up on Youtube. I watched it again and I couldn't help giggling over how low-budget everything is. A few examples:
Their "dessert" at the pizza place is a plateful of unwrapped Little Debbie brownies, the kind with the chopped nuts on top. I recognized them immediately because my mom bought those to put in school lunches all through my childhood.
The words "Stoneybrook General Hospital" were spray-painted on the side of the brick building they used as the hospital. It did look like an actual hospital building, so I guess they get some points for that.
There were no extras used to play the girls' families. Kristy opens her mitt with only her mom sitting there; her big, crazy, wild, blended family is nowhere to be seen. Poor Mallory is seen hanging up all the Pikes' stockings alone, lol. When Stacey gets out of bed, she goes to her mother's room, stands in the doorway and says "Mom, I don't feel good" to an unseen person.
This has nothing to do with how cheaply made anything was, but I also thought it was funny that Dr. Johanssen freely tells all the girls that Stacey's a patient at the hospital, what room she's in, and why she's there. So much for patient confidentiality!

HA HA, I've noticed several of those things too! The Little Debbie snacks, Kristy's Christmas being just her and her mom...the next time I watch this, I'll have to keep my eyes open for other obviously low budget examples.

Also because of all the 80s nostalgia. Cheesy 80s budget TV - so good! In fact, you've inspired me to watch an episode again tonight!

When I watch this episode now, I can't help but think how inappropriate it is that Dr. Johanssen gives the sitters the full details of Stacey's hospitalization without hesitation. Was there no such thing as medical privacy before HIPAA?

Hahaha! That was pretty funny! He does have a point about the glove though but hey Kristy was just in the Christmas spirit. ;P

In this opening song, the girls were window shopping for Christmas toys/decorations. Then they were in a store and ran past a bunch of mannequin feet covered in funky socks. They were touching everything in this store. Dawn picked up a teddy bear and full on rubbed it on Mary Anne’s face. Then they took a picture with Santa. It looks like the postcard that came in Snowbound! Santa looked overwhelmed as Jessi stroked his beard.
Dawn really wanted to bake cookies. They looked super dry and overcooked.
Ned was a jaded old man. Get him out of this hospital! Kristy couldn't believe that his parents didn’t have a car. Excuse me, your brother once lived in a closet.
Kristy was uncharacteristically klutzy with her chores. Watson had the dustiest bookshelf known to man. Why was she in Elizabeth's clothes closet deciding what to throw out? (Stacey's tip of getting rid of things that you haven't worn in a year is not a bad one.) What was she even going to do with that bucket of water that she stepped in? I thought it was for window washing, but then she had a spray bottle.
My favorite part of the episode was when Jessi picked up a purse and it exploded into a hat. It reminded me of trying to wrangle those sunshades that you put in your car windshield.
