^ITA, poor Janine. Having your little sister and all her friends pretty much hate you for being smart.

Her extended family, too. But then, Peaches seemed like an idiot, so maybe she and Claudia were two of a kind. (Or maybe...Claudia really WAS adopted! )

I just wrote this in another post but I was thinking of how great it would have been to have had a book from Janine's perspective. She was an interesting character and it would have been nice to see the Kishi family from her angle.

^ Totally agree. I also really would have liked to had a "super smart" (rather than just high achievers who worked hard to get good grades) member of the BSC for smart kids to relate to. I know Janine actually in the club wouldn't have worked but maybe they could have made her a twin (pre-Abby/Anna days) or something like that to incorporate her. That could have caused some very interesting scenarios. Imagine the possible fights ;D

I always hated the fact that Claudia was soooo mean to Janine. I just read The Mystery at Claudia's House and I definitely felt bad for her there too. When Mal suggested that maybe Janine had a boyfriend, they all laughed it off like it was sooo impossible. And for someone like Janine to date a hunk? Hilarious!
I thought it was pretty sad that she felt she had to hide her new boyfriend. I can only imagine the pressure put on her to be smart...I bet she feels like she can't live up to Claud. After all, she's supposed to be super cool, even though she's an idiot, right? The grass is always greener on the other side.

If Janine was so smart, why didn't she graduate high school early? There were several kids that went to my high school that were really smart and they all graduated early.

I think it was mentioned that she easily could have graduated early but didn't want to for some reason - or her parents didn't want her to. I don't remember, though, if it was really said or if I just assumed this or am imagining things I knew several kids who could have graduated early but didn't (as much as I would have gotten out even quicker if possible, I guess some have their reasons...)

When the triplets joined the club, they should have had a book narrated by one of them. I mean, when Mal joined the club, they had a book from her perspective. And I love that idea about big sister books. Agreed that that would have rocked. Maybe, Janine could have had a book that told us about her babysitting experiences with Kristy, Claudia, MA?

^ That would have been great! I loved it in MA's Book how it described Janine ignoring them as she walked and read at the same time. It always has fascinated my dad that I can walk and read at the same time and I enjoyed reading that Janine could do this, too. Of course, Dad is impressed because he's a "Jackie Rowdowsky" who can hardly walk and do anything at the same time ;D

Janine doesn't do anything, though. What would her books be about? She just goes to school and works on her computer. She doesn't even have any friends, other than that 14 year old girl or whatever who's in like, one of the early books.

I liked to think that Janine had this whole secret life that her sister didn't know about. I think Claudia's view on her is greatly exaggerated. I bet she had a ton of friends that Claud didn't know about, just because I think very highly of Janine for some reason

True, but that's what the books could be about - Janine starting to do different things. I would especially like to read about her trying to baby-sit as I think she'd be good with kids in her own way. Saw this in European Vacation (but I think they'd also frustrate her Janine having a secret life is an intersting theory but I don't think it has much truth to it. Actually kind of glad though that they didn't make a "Big Sister" series because I think they would have just made Janine a stereotypical nerd instead of the well-rounded, well-developed character I think she could be.

I don't know. I mean I like Janine and all, but I have no desire to read an entire book about the girl.
