She makes an appearance in one FF book, and she acts like the fight never happened, and tells Stacey to call her some time. I guess it's just to show how much Laine has truly changed... It wasn't just a phase she was going through, she really had grown apart from Stacey, and Stacey really wouldn't ever be friends with her again the way that they used to be.

Yeah, but I think she was still hanging out with the older, "sophiticated" crowd.

Okay, can we not talk smack about Lila Fowler? Yeah, thanks Reread Stacey's Ex-Best Friend, and we all know how delightfully villainous Laine is in this book. I loved how she was above QVC-type junk -- Stacey's clown did sound hideous. I have to ask, how DID Stacey order that stuff? I can't imagine my parents using their credit cards or writing checks out so that I could buy nail polish, even if I did pay them back, and even though 13 translates to 27 in Stoneybrook years, I doubt Stacey has a checking account or credit cards. And Pete? Was a grade-A dork. Come on, you really think the girl with hair of ~gossamer~ is going to be interested in your anecdotes about plaster dust?!

I was always curious when they mentioned where Laine lived. Her family must have been disgustingly wealthy to live in the Dakota, I'm assuming. Those apartments cost millions of dollars, don't they? Total NY high society. I tried googling pics of what an apartment in the Dakota would look like but only found ones of the outside of the building, no interior shots.

he's a broadway theater producer. it always seemed really unrealistic to me, though, that they would have enough money to live there. i think ann just had fantasies about living in the dakota herself... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Dakota

How old was King? 15? That just seems hilarious to me. When I picture someone named King, I picture... I dunno, some big muscle-bound guy. On a motorbike. Not some 15 year old... boy. I'm trying to imagine a 15 year old referring to himself as King, and calling his 13 year old girlfriend Babe, and it makes me laugh. He must have been a total tool.

I knew a King when I was in high school. He had a brother named Beau and a sister named Lili (pronounced "lee-lee").

When I was first reading the book, 15 was really old and sophisticated and mature!

Wasn't there a Clarence King at SMS? I think he was in Stacey's Secret Friend or Stacey and the Stolen Hearts, and he also insisted that he be called King. What's up with that?

That makes more sense, though. Wanting to be called by your last name, I mean. Was King actually a part of Laine's King's name? Or did he just think he was like, the King of Cool, and wanted to be referred to as such?

King was probably the uber-cool name he made his friends call him. Only Laine got to call him Heart because he was the King of hers... you know, it actually made me feel nauseous to type that! Ugh.
