This is unfortunate because Charlie was always my favorite of the two of them!

I really liked Charlie and Sam in the Little Sister books - maybe even better than in the regular series. They were so nice to Karen and Andrew, not like typical teenage boys. I loved it how they took Karen on a "date" in Karen's worst day and how they were always willing to spend time with her. Hmmm.... but she is their STEPsister and they seem to have a thing for younger girls Yuck - I need to get that thought out of my mind!

I always liked Charlie more than Sam. I think it was from the little sister books mostly, I always liked how he treated Karen and Andrew and took care of them. I always liked Charlie's relationship with Kristy too. Actually I liked the relationship between all the Thomas siblings for some reason. They seemed like normal siblings and argue and everything, but would be there for each other. Thats just my opinion though.

I dunno...I always had the impression that the siblings were very close, esp. in the aftermath of their dad leaving. I think that Charlie, as the eldest, would've had to take on a lot of responsibility, even though he wasn't too old himself. As the years went by, it just probably became a habit to help his siblings wherever he was needed.

I always thought they sounded like great brothers. I'm an only child so I always wanted brothers(or sisters)like that. They seemed nice.

After reading some Litter Sister books, I like Sam and Charlie even more. They sound like such great big brothers. I love it in Karen’s Tuba how Sam helps the kids secretly practice playing “here comes the bride” as a surprise for Ms. Colman and in Karen’s Sleepover how Charlie tells the ghost story at Karen’s slumber party. Then Sam is going to go to the Mother’s Day party with Karen (even though he tells her she has to pay him ;D) at her school in one of the books, can’t remember which one but I think it’s Karen’s Gift. My favorite is when they take Karen on a “date” for ice cream in Karen’s Worst Day. I have a real soft spot for guys who are good with kids. Though I always like Charlie, Sam can get on my nerves but when he is so nice to his younger siblings, I like him a lot more.

It kinda bugs me that Charlie and Sam aren't more attached to Claudia and Mary Anne. I mean, they don't seem to like them any more than the other club members but they probably saw those two every day for most of their lives. Mary Anne said in the beginning of the series that Elizabeth was like a mother to her, so why aren't Kristy's brothers like brothers to her? It would have been nice to see them be protective of her and maybe give Logan a hard time when he was acting creepy possessive.

I would have loved to see that, especially where Logan was concerned. And they're close in age with Janine; it would have been nice if Charlie had ever hung around after dropping Kristy off at meetings to chat with her, but it's like she and the Thomas boys have never been acquainted.

I never thought about those things! It's really weird that Kristy's brothers would have no 'brotherly' feelings for Claudia and Mary Anne in particular at all! Also agree it's weird about not 'chatting' with Janine. They grew up together too, after all.

^ Agree with all of the above. Find it especially strange since it seems out of character for Sam and Charlie. I would have always liked to see Charlie and Janine together. It's possible that they had a secret thing going on and that's actually how Charlie spent his time while waiting for Kristy during the meetings - ha ha ;D Maybe Sam doesn't feel "brotherly" toward Claud and MA because he dates Claudia's best friend. Another point, sparklymouse mentioned that MA saw Elizabeth like a mother but I really don't get this feeling at all. Doesn't she even call her "Mrs. Thomas" and then "Mrs. Brewer"? I would think she'd at least be on a first name basis with someone who she had motherly feelings towards. It always bothered me that the two weren't closer.

They probably just forgot about that. I think a lot of relationships in the books are underdeveloped to say the least - forgotten is more like it, though.

The only suggestion I've heard is that he is secretly spending time with Janine or at least trying to catch her attention. I dunno. I always just imagined him running errands, snacking at Pizza Express or something. Charlie & Janine...Now there's a fanfic waiting to happen.

^ I agree that MA & Elizabeth should have been closer. Hmm, it makes me wonder why Elizabeth and Richard didn't get together, pre-Watson. On Charlie and Janine, I don't they would have worked because Janine is more introverted and into braniacs while Charlie would be a little bit too outgoing for Janine. I also agree that the three families on Bradfort Court should have been closer. I imagine that they would have had a village mentality about each other, where all of the children treats each other like brothers and sisters and parents treated them like their own. Or maybe they were just too busy?

^ I think they focused a lot more on how the families moved apart instead of the relationships that they did or could have had. We did get to see some of MA and Kristy's friendship but not much more than that. Some of the "closeness" was mentioned but never really demonstrated. Of course, I just don't see the Kishi family as a whole (with the exception of Mimi) as being very demonstrative, warm, and "friendly" type people and Elizabeth and Richard were probably too busy trying to raise kids on their own - though you think they could have helped each other more. Interesting thought putting the two of them together but I totally can't see it. I don't know but they just seem incompatible. Maybe just because I like Watson with Elizabeth and Sharon with Richard
