He really irritates me and is far overused. How is it that every single bsc member (bar Mal, Jess and shan) has him in her class?
First where led to believe or assume he's this sophisticated hottie. (first few books)
A football player. A real member of the squad. (logan's story- His behaviour in this book was a disgrace)
Then a nerd. (kristy for prez)
Just out of curiosity, are nerds even allowed on the football field in American schools.

LOL I wondered why Pete Black was running for class pres too! He does pop up a lot, but honestly I don't really have a strong opinion on him. I think its just convenient to use his name when they need a boy.

Yeah I thought so too, he's just the guy they pick whenever they need some random guy. That's why he changes so often.

And then a dork who drops corsages to be trampled and tells girls they have "hair of gossamer" or some such.

And then a dork who drops corsages to be trampled and tells girls they have "hair of gossamer" or some such. In Stacey's Ex-Best Friend, right? Let's not forget how he started crying (or maybe just teared up?) because Laine, the girl he had known for approximately 2 hours, danced with another guy.

I remember that book. Why did Cokie just read the back cover of the book when she knew that she was going to be presenting in front of the author. MA was mockingly reciting along with her, yet how did MA memorize the words?

He didn't half irritate me as much as emily bernstien did.
She just seems so self righteous, smug and too pleased with herself.
It sounds bad, but in the 'mary-anne and the memory garden', I felt like thumping her.

I liked him in Mary Anne Misses Logan as well, he seemed like a cool guy. His frequently changing personality was irritating though.

In Kristy and the Sister War, he likes heavy metal music and makes fun of the Beatles. This "metal head" personality seems to go against his scholarly personality in Kristy for President. What is the guy? A nerd, a jock, a jerk? It's like he just fills whatever role the particular book needs filled. A man of convenience.

I remember that he was supposed to be a comedian also. Something like, he and Alan Gray were both going for the jokester of the 8th grade or something, and Justin Forbes got it.

Whenever I think of Pete Black, I think of the Pete Black from "Mary Anne Misses Logan", "Kristy for President" and "Stacey's Ex-Best Friend"... I think he's consistent in those books: a bit of a nerd, a bit of a dork, but generally an okay guy. The jock thing completely throws me.

i thought Pete Black was ok, he seemed like a nice guy (bar pulling that shillaber twins bra strap or whatever). i really liked him in Mary Anne misses Logan too, he seeemed cool, but then he was a total nerd drooling over Laine in Staceys Ex Best Friend.
was he also the guy that Claudia and Stacey used to date? or swap around from time to time? i remember he really liked Stacey in the valentines day mysterey or the one in the friends forever where all her ex boyfriends ( all 25 of them : ) ) keep showing up.

Yeah, Pete Black and Austin Bentley were the two guys that Claudia and Stacey would pass around.

Yeah, Pete Black and Austin Bentley were the two guys that Claudia and Stacey would pass around. lol! No wonder they fell out in the friends forever series. Austin Bentley personality was consistent. It was always stated that he was a football player. And he obviously was cool enough for Cokie to date. Speaking of the kids at the sophisticated table, looking back it does seem odd that these kids were the scholar type later on the series. I'm suprised claudia would want to sit with them seeing as she couldn't tolerate Janine. Afterall, they do wonder how to make triethanolomine (i had to copy that for book 51).
